Female doctors

I thought there was a thread already started on this but i couldn't find it so i'm starting a new one. If there are any female doctors/nurses out there my question is how often do you get to examine a man you find attractive and what kind of thought do you have while examining him...

Well I'm not really a doctor yet, but I'm a medical student. I've had the chance to examine a few cute guys, and I am always careful to act very professionally. I do, however, think like, wow he's fat, or whoa, he's pretty cute.

when i walk in the room and if he's a cute guy, I do sorta try to imagine what he will look like when he's naked. I know that sounds weird, but I never let it effect my professionalism.

Do you only do this imagining on guys that are not receiving a complete physical? In other words, on guys that you won't be seeing nude? Or do you also do this for guys that you will be seeing nude in just a few short minutes?

It sounds as if you're starting to enjoy the feeling of power that medical professionals have over us mere mortals. I always figured that you don't start to feel that power until you're fully licensed and in a real practice. It's interesting that you develop that sense of power this early.

On those occasions where you do get to see a good looking guy nude, how do you handle it? What I mean is how are you able to put aside your feelings and desires when, for instance, you've you've got a guy standing in front of you and you're holding his testicles? Or you've got him bent over the table in front of you and you're about to give him a prostate exam?

I'd love to hear some of your experiences.

Yes, Ashley, it would be fun to hear your thoughts about your experiences and developing professionalism vs. your inner feelings.

A somewhat related story: When I was a freshman in college I lived in an all-male dorm. I went to a state college and it had a reputation as being a "party" school. I can believe this because the freshman dorm was such an alcohol-induced party atmosphere that it would have put "Animal House" to shame.

I am a non-drinking, notoriously introverted non-party person and was absolutely miserable there. People within the dormitory tended to socialize mostly with other guys who lived on their floor. Normal social inhibitions did not seem to apply when it came to other people who lived on the same floor you did (I think this was encouraged because it was a group showering situation with others on the same floor). My point being that this floor was as lewd, crude and rude as 19 year old boys can be. Just so you get the picture...

Anyway, one day everyone was gathering in one dormitory room on the floor and my roommate (who I got along with, but didn't like) insisted that I come along, so I did.

Well, it turns out that they had bought some porno films (actual projection films, this was in the 80's before video was everywhere) and we ended up watching these movies together. Well, not too long into the movies, guys started bragging about their woodies and showing them off to everyone (through their pants, thank God...) and bragging about how big their dicks were.

They asked me if I was erect, and I told them No. I noticed they kept looking at my crotch to see if I was getting erect, and I never did.

I would have sooner slit my wrists than get an erection in front of those @$$!@!$. I didn't like them (and found out later that the feeling was mutual) and frankly found the idea of guys bragging to other guys about the size of their dicks to be a little strange, unless they were homosexual (and to even suggest that would have gotten me beat up, of course).

At any rate, I was not a homosexual and I did not want another guy seeing my erection, especially not a guy that I detested. And God forbid that it happen in front of a whole group of them!

My point being that even given visual stimulation, if you are uncomfortable with a situation, and do not want an erection, you are not going to get one, short of being physically stimulated to the point that you have no choice (which I suppose could occur in a doctor's office, but has never occurred to me).

I've always felt female Dr.s still feel a little something when examining males. Not that they get off on it, necessarily, but probably enjoy it,(depending on the patient,of course), or maybe enjoy the power of it.

You always hear how women are above it all, but comments here,say otherwise.

I am a little older and I did imagine myself as a boy wearing just my briefs and waiting for getting examined by a young female doctor. I always thought that doctor MUST have feelings.

I believe that the anticipation makes guys sometimes very aroused, especially if they know that the physical exam will include also the genital and rectal check.

When I was in my teens a woman doctor slid back my foreskin a couple of times to check for tightness -- and it almost caused me to shoot, or so I thought at the time. I have always wondered what her reaction was internally. Externally she was warm and friendly throughout the rest of the exam.

She did not do a rectal exam, but did do a skin check and checked my gait, and through all of it I maintained the erection, which was pretty embarrassing at the time.

I'm always surprised when I read about rectal exams in the US. Here in Britain I've never heard of anyone doing it in any position other than left lateral, at least if the patient's conscious.

Have any of the UK patients here had a rectal in a different position?

And Ashley - yes, I probably would avoid smiling too much during the exam!

Yes, you are correct. Having been in the knee-chest position for several rectal exams, I can attest to the fact that you feel very vulnerable! And what exactly is wrong with that? 😁

If that is an approved position, and you won't get into any trouble for using it, I'd suggest that you try it on your next male patient. Depending on the guy, they might actually enjoy it more. Personally, I find it much more comfortable than any other position since you naturally tend to, um, open up more, when you're put in that position.

Ashley, as far as the knee-chest position -- which I believe is what you call the "on all fours" position -- goes, yes, in a sense it makes one feel more vulnerable. (Though not much, since you are facing away from the doctor.) But I have one doctor, a female endocrinologist, who uses it on me and does so, I think, because she has smallish fingers. At least she did mention that once as the reason she preferred that position. She does what I think is a very thorough job when she does the DRE, as in all her exams and really takes her time.

I am a bit confused about the "short fingers" reasoning however, because I have been told by at least one other doctor that she prefers the side position because her fingers are short too. So who knows. Maybe it is just what they get used to. It is also possible that my endocrinologist prefers the knee-chest position because it does give her another way to examine my testicles, which are her primary concern during exams anyway. She did in fact continued an exam of my testicles once when I was in that position.

One other thing about exams and whether or not they go further than "necessary". I've known two men who had testicle cancer. One was an Aussie, aged about 32, working in S. Africa in an important position and getting what was supposed to be superior medical care from an older, distinguished white doctor. Long story short, that doc was away and he got his yearly exam from a new, black woman doctor just returned from the UK. First time he ever had a testicle exam, she found cancer, he had one teste removed and is alive and kicking today with two kids. His white male doctor, supposedly one of the finest in S. Africa, had never done a testicle exam in the two prior years he had been there.

My other friend was 58 living in Pennsylvania and also was never examined for testicle cancer by his white male older doctor. He died from testicle cancer. Died. Age 58. His wife told me at the funeral that she had asked him to get a chackup on that and he had talked to the doctor and he had told him not to worry and had NOT done it! She was bitter and was thinking seriously of suing the guy.

My Aussie friend told me that the black woman doctor had told him the genital check was not on the protocol but she was going to do it anyway -- and did it without really getting his permission. He was damned glad she did. This all happened in the mid 1990s, more than ten years ago, but it has made me always opt for more rather than less when it comes to exams. Furthermore I have thought about it and I think many male docs and male patients don't want to do genital and rectal exams sometimes for reasons of embarrassment. My personal experience has been that women doctors tend to be much more thorough in these areas -- for whatever reason. And thus I think any man is a fool if he objects to or is seen as demurring from a thorough exam. That guy in PA had four kids and died far too young from what in my view at least was a type of medical malfeasance.

Regarding the rectal exam while on all fours I have read (and the accounts may be fantasy) that while the doctor has one hand in the rectal area he or she has one hand on the penis. I think they call it 'milking' to ensure there is some discharge or maybe even stimulating it to ensure there is an ejaculation of pre-cum. Some posters even suggest that on rare occassions a man can fully ejaculate while being fondled.

Is this a genuine medical procedure or have I basically read some bulls**t?

Ashley- at my last exam i first had to stand up to be checked then was told to lie down so that i could be further examined...i just curious but i thought genital exams were done standing up

That sounds right to me for one additional reason: That's when your male hormones are raging. Not only do you have absolutely no control over erections, you are constantly thinking about sex.

I once had a modeled nurse ask me some personal questions before an exam .That I thought was pretty cool. She asked me have I ever had a prostate exam ? and do I want the doctor to give me one. I said no and she said it would only take a few minutes,and she would be real gentel. I did not know what to say. When I heard her say she I said okay. Their was a knock and the doctor and nurse came in .She checked me for me allergies ,and made some small talk.While the nurse got out some KY. The doctor said this is your first prostate exam? I said yes very nervous .The doctor said okay that's fine I want you to turn around pull down your pants and lean over the table. She then sat on a small stool and said .I am going to put some KY on my finger and you will feel me touch your anus .I could feel an erection coming when she said OK I AM going to slide my finger in .I let out a small grunt when the nurse said it will be okay hon .The doctor was talking and rotateting her finger at the same time. SHE PULLED OUT HER FINGER AND PULLED OFF HER GLOVE AND SAID ALL DONE .i WAS AFRAID TO TURN AROUND WHEN SHE SSAID ERECTIONS ARE NORMAL AND WALKED OUT.

I am curious to know is it standard in the US - I trust you are from there - that already second year medical students can perform physical exams by themselves without any preceptor present? Because here in Scandinavia it wouldn't be possible. You need at least four years period of studies before you can perform exams by your own.

I must admit, I've never had a female doctor but the idea is appealing. I've had nurses come in and see me naked in various situations but always a male doctor.

Baraja -- you raise a very good point. Please let me clarify. I do not care for anyone on my own. The only patients I see alone are part of my physical diagnosis class. After I see the patient, all of the key points are repeated by my preceptor, and he is the one who makes all the decisions.

I would never examine any patients completely by myself -- I just don't have enough training or experience yet.

Some of my former doctors was women too. Especially one is unforgettable because she liked very detailed and complete physical exams. When patient went to her exam room, the dialog usually start:

"Good day!"

"Take your clothes off, your socks, boots and uderwear too."

Next following complete exam including genitals and rectal in bend over, often without any question to health, what other doctors doing 10 minuts, she doing 30-40 min.

I mysleslf pass out this exam 3 time but it is not so exciting how maybe somenone think. Doctor was not most attractive and she leaving windows in exam room opened, so it was really cold... altogether one of my worse medical experiences...

I do have a guy friend in my class who was going to do a physical on a girl who was about 21, and she refused, but that is the only refusal I know of.

Patients, who are near at the same age than a medical student, are probably more willing to refuse. However, it's great to find that there are not many people who wants to refuse to be examined by a medical student.

Do you sometimes feel the nervousness of a patient when you are examining him or her?

I think that you are right as a medical student when you said :

I know some doctors do it lying down, but its easier to do guys standing up for 2 reasons: (1) hernias are easier to feel and (2) if the scrotum is pulled up tight, gravity helps pull the testicles down a little so that the doctor can feel the top of them.

it was like that all my exams for the check of hernia were performed because it is certainly the best way to do it, it is easier if the man or the young man is standing up, not lying!

i had a lot of check ruptures, in school physicals, in pre-induction center, at the army when inducted, for jobs physicals before being hired or after as routine physicals , in a doctor office or a medical clinic, all were done while I was standing up in front of the doctor, male or female.

It is the opposite for the prostate check which can be perform while I am all fours on a table or bending over but standing up or less often lying on a side on a table. it is much more embarrassing!

I can remember having a prostate exam from a lady dr. In fact it was my wifes dr also. It was kind of strange taking my clothes off for her, but she was very professional, her finger felt sooo goood! I wished it had lasted longer. Soon after she retired so I had to change dr., but this time had a male dr. (darn)

Hi Ashley, first i would like to thank you for sharing with us, i always enjoy your comments. I would like to ask if you have examined a women before by yourself? What age was she, and what did the exam consist of?

I love female doctors. they are the best. No doubt. Just the thought that they look at you naked and feel you all over is a wonderful thing. i get so aroused from the thought of it. I love the older nurses wearing gloves and masks checking my ballsack. checking out my prostate. its wonderful. even a young nurse would do as long as she made you feel good.

The doctors I see are always female. I have three female doctors at my local practice. All are excellent at making you feel comfortable. Unfortunately the exams are never thorough enough for me though. I would always prefer to be examined by a female doctor rather than a male doctor. I like the thought of the vulnerability i feel, and the power the female doctor has.

So why not ask them to be more thorough? I have myself and been pleased with the results. It is odd, but I have never had a woman doctor refuse to do a more detailed exam if I asked her. It took me a while to realize that women doctors are like women everywhere -- they like to be asked. No kidding.
