I was nervous at first. The whole thing came to a head when we were going together for three months and were getting quite serious.
My father in law and I were sitting on the back porch talking about where I had grown up and my "Intensions toward his daughter"
I told him I had asked her to marry me and she hadn't decided yet.
He knew she had met me at the hospital. I explained to him what had happened and that I was in diapers and would be for the remander of my life.
He was a WW2 vet that had beeen with Patton. He asked a few questions and that was the end if it.
I fact the only time he ever brought it up was when he had his prostate removed and asked my advise about diapers.
My mother in law was another story. She ragged on my wife quite a bit untill she told her to live with it. That I had asked her to marry and she was saying yes. She did a lot of grumbling untill my father in law stepped in and told her to shut up. I was a wounded veteran and she should be proud of that.
As for the rest of the family I have never hid the fact but I don't flaunt it.
Perminant incontance is a fact of life for me. After thirty six years of marrage it is a done deal within the family.
I have had others outside the family make a comment and have learned the best way to handle them is to ignore them.
