Closed Top Hot Water Bottle Style Large Capacity Bag

Some years ago (probably like 15 or so), I had a 4 quart, closed top, hot water bottle style enema bag that I purchased new. I don't remember from where. I had to reinforce the hanging hole with a metal grommet. It sadly split and I had to throw it out. I have been searching high and low for a replacement and it seems that they no longer exist. The larger capacity bags that I have found are all fountain style. After quite a bit of searching, I found some hot water bottles on Amazon, one that is advertised as 3.5 L, and another one that is 9 L (links below). The question then becomes how would you hang it up, as there is no hanging hole at the top of the bag. I thought about making a hole on one, but I read somewhere that the two sides are sandwiched together, and if you put a hole through the top, it will cause a leak. Has anyone else tried to modify one of these? I know the 9 L would be hard to hang without a lot of reinforcement, but the 3.5 L shouldn't be too bad.

I would not try hanging either of these. Nine liters of water weighs 20 pounds, quite a bit to be hanging by a hook in a hole. 2.2 pounds per liter. Simply lay it on top a high shelf or dresser and let gravity do the work. I've done this many times when i had no place to hang a regular bag.

You will need to be creative. I would take a heavy duty plastic grocery bag and cut a small hole in the bottom to accommodate the tubing. Place the enema bag inside the grocery bag and hang it utilizing the bag handles. Not very pretty bu it will work.

I would not consider piercing the bag. Instead, I'd put the bag in something that can be hung. At my house, there for the taking, that would be a sturdy coat hanger and a lingerie-washing bag (which is made of soft netting, the holes big enough for the hose of the bag), or maybe a tote bag with a buttonhole stitched into the bottom for the hose, the handles on that same sturdy hanger. Or the hanging bathroom bag that came with my suitcase years ago that I never use but seems too good to throw out, since some of its compartments are large.

Although installing those nice floating shelves and just laying the bag in a space you leave empty would work just fine and look good, too.

For the 3L, consider a "Sanger" water bottle. They have different colors and have the "hole". I've had a couple in the past and was able to use common but vintage water bottle/combination fittings. They used to have a black one, but I haven't seen one for years.

I was able to repair a vintage fountain syringe, with a split handing tab, with a rubber washer on either side that holds with gorilla glue. The washers were obtained at Lowe's in the "hardware" bins.
