Irrigator 3L

I've recently acquired an antique enema (I guess) irrigator. The capacity is 3 Liters and its enameled in white with dark blue accents. Zero markings. Just wanted to see if anyone has any guesses as to it's intended use, as 3L seems very large for the standard hospital enema.

In the past, farms used irrigators with a capacity of 2 liters or more for animals.

If it was for hospital use it could also be for vaginal douching. That's within the volume range for an historical "copious" douche. And even today barium enema bags go up to either 2.5 or 3l (very rare that the full volume would be used), so could be from an old radiology dept.

Could also have been home or clinic equipment from one of the quack medicine "autointoxication" fads, which sometimes did advocate for very large volume enemas.

It's often luck, but sometimes I'm really good at tracking down various antique items (starting with my MIL's home after her death, so I wouldn't donate anything valuable), and one thing I learned is that images and scale really help. What I found is that quite a bit of the time, a person selling a similar item knows a lot about it and shares a good bit in their listing on ebay or whatever.

Not too long ago I sent a message to a man at NextDoor who was asking $15 for a pre-war Noritake china serving bowl worth at least $100. I was able to tell him when and where it was made, its name, and link him to points of sale for identical items. He deleted his ad.

Is there a way you might photograph this irrigator from multiple angles, including the bottom, and share links here? Maybe I'll be lucky.

All great info, thank you all! @PinotNoir I'm on a trip now, but I'll post some pics when I get home in a couple weeks.

Excellent. I look forward to playing junior detective and seeing what, if anything, I can turn up.

It might seem a lot to some, but most adults can take 3L, unless they suffer from some medical conditions. The 3L disposable enema bag is pretty standard equipment. Those bags are much sturdier than disposable 1.5L. I have been using such bag (3L) for few years.
