Hi all,
I been here 16 years and never posted a topic before, so here goes…
I had an early childhood suppository memory in the early 90s for bad constipation, see below my memory of this.
I can only think of one memory of having a suppository as a young kid, I think I was around 7 year old and very constipated (around 6 or 7 day mark with no poo). I wasn’t eating dinner much and I went to the bedroom with my mum. She sat me down calmly and asked me what was wrong? I told her, I had a sore tummy. She then asked did I go to the toilet today or recently? I told her, it was like quite a few days and felt super embarrased about it. She said that’s ok, I will be back soon. Maybe go into the bathroom and wait for me there. I was very nervous and had no idea what was happening. I was her come back and put the heater on and had a little glass jar of something. Long story short, I got told she has something to help me feel better. I was very suspicious of it and didn’t understand what that is. I got told to stand up and face the wall in the bathroom and take my pants and undies off. My face went bright red and I slowly complied but was mega shy about it. I heard the jar open and water run for a sec then stopped. I couldn’t see any thin but only hear. I heard footsteps behind me and a comforting hand on my shoulder. She said it will be ok and I know this is a bit strange but it should help you. Then u felt one of the strangest sensations of my life, the suppository was pushed really high up into my bum and held, so I wouldn’t push it back out I think. I got told to pull my pants up and watch the kitchen clock for 20 minutes to count down. By 10 mins, I felt like I had to run to the toilet but I got told to get to 20 mins before I would be allowed to run to the bathroom for relief. Crazy all the emotions and feelings of urgency during that 20 mins, walking in tip toes and feeling clammy. Finally at 20 minutes, I bolted for the toilet and only farts came out. I ended up the next day having my first and only medically given enema at a local country GP family clinic which was another whole story, very traumatic and full on. Please reach out to me for the details on that one as it’s a lot to tell privately.
I am curious of the following:
- Did anyone else get suppositories in the 90s in Australia from a parent(s) or was it rare?
- What kind of suppositories were used at the time?
- Was it mainly done at home, GP office or Hospital?
- Did you feel embarassed about it and did you talk to friends about it or keep it secret?
Interested to hear everyone’s thoughts, even oversea answers are welcome too.
