Best ways to sterilize metal toys?

I’m curios. Besides an autoclave or boiling what other ways can you sterilize metal toys like sounds, butt plugs, metal dildos and other metal toys and probes?

Perhaps 99% alcohol? Or hand sterilizers? Or soaking in bleach? Other chemicals? Soap and water? UV light?

Maybe a pressure cooker? Not sure if would sterilze metal or not, but it's hotter than boiling water, up to 250 deg F. Autoclaves exceed 270 degrees. Bleach, alcohol etc. will clean and kill germs, but won't sterilize. A good washing is probably good enough for most penetrative sex toys. This is NOT expert advice, just our experience and never had an issue attributed to a sex toy. No experience with sounds or cath play.

Excellent topic.

My understanding is that boiling is easiest. Autoclaves are ideal, but they’re effectively pressure cookers, and can reach higher temperatures for the exact reasons @Rigel gives.

For the modern day medfet enthusiast, I’d recommend an Instant Pot. Speaking from … what I’ve read and studied, not any authority or experience, really. But that would definitely help you get the achieved results.

My biggest challenge is if I want to sterilize urethral sounds - they’re so long! You can’t even boil them terribly easily. It’s just awkward. Plus, getting them from sterile in boiling water, or a pressure cooker, how do you store them sterile, ready for use?

There are sterilization bags - these are designed to hold the instrument before putting them into the sterilizer, and then retain the sterilization once complete. However, I think these only work for steam sterilizers like … autoclaves.

Sigh.
