What age did you become less embarrassed about body exposure at the doctor?

After having my first baby. So many people saw me and I stopped caring.

I like the question. I don’t think I’m not embarrassed, but I would say after giving birth the first time, that changed. I gave birth at the hospital. At least 4 different nurses saw me naked, and checked my cervix at least once. I peed in front of a bunch of people more than once etc. Stuff happens… After my body feels a bit more used up, so i might be a bit less embarrassed, but it definitely still is.

After 4 fermale nurses were in the room while I got my colonscopy and 3 females did my cystoscopy. I think it has more to do with how often you experience medical procedures. The general total disregard most medical people need and use to get through their work sort of dissipates any sexual excitement/embarrassment for me. The strictly professional medical atmosphere seems to be contagious. In particular, I was concerned that an unwanted erection would make a barium enema extremely embarrassing. Turned out to be so clinical as to be boring!

The anticipation and imagination was a neat bit of erotica, but actually getting it done ...meh.

Around 29, after I came out, and found gay, male doctors. It changed the idea of being naked around other men, not hiding my body. When I had a bodywork practice, even more so, because my days were spent nude with nude clients. This didn't mean flaunting my body, or nudity, but digesting it as less than a non issue, which extended from physical exams, where I could take everything off including underwear for them, to locker rooms.

For me it was after giving birth to my first daughter, it was a hospital birth although we'd planned for a home birth, all privacy went out the window during birth, now I'm a lot more relaxed, my second daughter was born at home, and it was as relaxed as giving birth could be, so much easier than my first, and I think being more relaxed helped❤️

As long as I can remember, it has been so embarrassing for me at the doctor's office, and still is to this day even though I consider myself to be a nudist. It is probably because of the ever so close inspection a doctor gives in an exam over one's entire body, which one just doesn't feel in normal everyday nudity. However, as strange as it may seem, whenever I may be a patient in a play exam, I experience no embarrassment at all and am perfectly comfortable and at ease.

In my early 20s, once I was sexually active and was spending more time with men, nude and otherwise. Exams initially turned me on because they were the only time I had physical attention from another man (not that it ever got inappropriate). And I only got it once a year. And outside of gym class, it was the only time I was exposed in front of another man. (Though I don't think I ever found changing for gym to be arousing.) Once I was playing around with men, those restrictions of access and frequency no longer applied, so going to a real exam didn't carry the same level of excitement anymore. Especially as I've gotten older, I look to this play more for the BDSM elements--essentially a gay dungeon experience with better lighting and different clothes.

Generally I am not embarrassed at the doctor.

Due to bed wetting and infections I was examined down below so many times, mainly by a male doctor and very occasionally a middle aged female doctor.

There was once, aged 17, I was scheduled to have a genital exam at the GP surgery. My male doctor was off that day and there was an attractive young female stand-in, I was embarrassed. She asked me why I there and I saw my get out, told her it was for my asthma which I knew was due.

I think that Downton has supported the patient mindset difference: a professional interaction between doctor, and patient has rules, unknowns, responses, reactions. A play exam, in contrast, is,v first of all play. The patient is both relaxed, and ready to respond without worrying about his response, and how it might be read by the doctor. Any rules would have been brought up before the session. A good doctor/patient match is one in which each is reading the other. There are no wrong answers.

@Jacana they did many X-rays with radioactive dyes logging flow and then a VCUG. I struggled with retention, my retention was measured at less than one hour. Alongside this I was diagnosed with an underactive bladder, my bladder did not fully empty. They told my mum things would get better at puberty due to the action of growth hormones.

All their tests gave me recurring nightmares which I don’t think helped. My parents got accused of abuse which never happened, it was all a reaction to my reaction to the tests.

I got many infections and my penis was examined regularly until puberty, given ointment and antibiotics.

After puberty started I never wet the bed.
