Males Having No Control During a Physical

No, never for me, and I’ve had several plastic surgery operations for birth defects from about age 2 to 13 and many doctor visits since.

I never lost control during an exam, even if I’m aroused before and after. The stress of the possibilitly that they find something or if it may hurt is killing every excitation during the procedure. But if it went ok, I may have a little fun back home.

Some of the examinations I've had in the urology department were very explicit and there was lapses in their attempts to preserve my modesty. Not that I minded of course !

I have always thought that they were doing what they were taught to do. My first DOT exams (1970’s) were very through and later they got less and less involved to the point of being a waste of time. I have had them use chaperons and other times they didn’t. One time a female doctor asked me if I wanted one and I told her I didn’t care. What was easiest to get it done. So she didn’t call for one. I think that the whole medical field is turning into a dumpster fire at this point.

It happened during an urodynamic test. The doctor said I need to have some straps to my ankles, and a wide padded belt across my hips that locked my pelvis flat against the table. She said it is needed to improve signals accuracy from movement artifacts. The paper drape had been pushed up to my waist and left there. I couldn’t close my legs or shift even a centimeter. Then she inserted a first catether through my penis. A second catheter was inserted into my rectum and taped in place. Both lines were connected to the pressure transducers. Cold sterile fluid began to fill my bladder in measured increments. I could feel the gradual swelling, the rising pressure, the way my body started to signal urgency while the straps kept me completely still. Only when the catheters were finally withdrawn and the residual fluid wiped away were the straps released. It was clear for me that straps were absolutely unnecessary.

No never humiliated or made to feel embarrassed on purpose. Having said that, at every physical I am virtually in the doctors hands (literally) but she has an excellent bedside manner, so not at all authoritative just firm I’d say, but I’ve never not complied with anything she’s asked me to do.

Yes, it did happen and it happened during the examination process for military services (as reservist officer) in 1988.

I don't know whether or not it was linked to my development history, but I guess it did because they did have access to the medical history

during those exams and they also did mention it during conversations as well as during the psychological interview I had.

None of us obviously didn't have any say in what happened during the physical that happened to be done by a female doctor and that was witnessed by the

psychologist with whom I had the interview earlier that day. The exam was a complete examination and I felt it was exagerated as well as humiliating while it

happened as well as afterwards.

I know I could have refused certain actions, but not really during that period, so I let it all happen. (and when I think about it, I still question myself, why I let it happen ...)

@FDNM-patient, could you describe the physical exam during military service in detail? Were you completely naked? Thanks in advance.

But as a kid my male pediatrician definitely took pleasure in my exams. He "enrolled" me in a supposed study for boys who were "late bloomers"

This involved physicals with me completely naked, measurements, Polaroid photos, examination of my tiny erections, and personalized instruction on how to fondle myself (he called it "home therapy" and would have me demonstrate my technique for him at each appointment).

As rumors started to circulate in our small town (I was not the only kid in Dr Danny's "study") my mom moved me to a family practice doctor (female).

A little while later, Dr Danny shot himself and nothing else was said about it.

So trying to humiliate me? Maybe. But definitely for his own pleasure.

These are the kind of things that make me wonder the level of harm that comes from experiences like the above. I had mine as a child by 2 doctors, and I once thought that I had been abused, because of what other had said. Personally I believe that the way doctors practiced medicine with children was just standard practice at the time. I have to admit that it did lead to a lot of memories. I don’t ever remember any pain from those visits even the rectal exams, the doctor was gentile, used his little finger and a well lubed glove. My mom was always in the room so I just thought I was safe. It was always a strange feeling to be stripped naked and examined.

I’ve had a couple of times when I’ve simply refused the requests of a Dr who thought they were in control of me. I forewarned one Dr when going through a pre-employment physical, I just stated there are limits which I will allow during this examination, in that scenario she stated how she does it all the time, I stated well I don’t. Next time a Dr who was overbearing, not a listener, had his own agenda, and was trying to set up other medical screening without my consent, a colonoscopy which I said, I did not want, he almost had a breakdown, as I thinks it’s the first time ever he’d been told no!

I’ve always read up on the law and pre-employment physicals, what they can and cannot do, the prospective employer may have some pre-requisites but they are limited to the job you’re going to do and restricted under the disability acts.

I have done that a few times myself. Once at a pre employment physical (1976) for a County job where they wanted to do a bunch of x-rays and were using an anoscope that I had already been informed of by our HR lady. I asked her if I could refuse and she said I could refuse both and it wouldn't be a problem. When I told the Doctor he became very enraged and began berating me for refusing and that it would more than likely prevent my hiring. I told him get another Doctor now or I was getting dressed and would file a complaint. He stormed out of the exam room and his nurse was leaving behind him. She looked back at me and winked and smiled. About 5 minutes later she and another nurse walked in as I was already getting dressed and told me that another Doctor was on his way and to get back into the gown. That doctor was quite nice and told me I'm not here to do anything you don't feel comfortable with. I asked about the threat of not being hired, he said it is not up to the last Doctor but him now. He told me he would do just the minimum and that included a hernia check and 1 chest x ray. I said okay. He then asked if I had hemorrhoids and I told him no and he said good I’ll check the box off.

About 9-10 years ago I tripped and fell down on the concrete and my daughter was worried I may have cracked something and she insisted that she take me to the urgent care center. They were worried about a cracked pelvic bone and then when it looked good they told me that I needed a Tetanus shot. When I asked why she couldn’t answer. I explained that it was a no and I have a much greater chance of being struck with lightning than getting tetanus. I also told her that I would be dead from it before the antibodies would kick in. God did she get angry at me. We were shown the door real quick. My daughter got a good laugh out of that and we went and had a great lunch after.

Never tell them no. It hurts their feelings.

I don’t think she was amused, but I had a female urologist commenting that I have some of the smallest testicles she has seen in her career and due to my low fertility that not all lines were meant to be continued. While I was not physically taken advantage of or humiliated, mentally I felt humiliated and degraded. I think for her it was factual, but came across cruel, judgmental and with the sentiment that I am useless as a male.

This has never happened to me. I have always met very professional doctors who have always been respectful.
