Needles are used whenever an injection is required.

For a procedure on the labia (for example, in the case of condylomas), a thin, short needle is used to minimize pain at the injection site.

Anesthesia is less common on the cervix because it is considered a less sensitive tissue.

A cervical block is performed in cases of wide resection (conization) or for the insertion of an IUD in certain patients. In these cases, a much longer needle is used because it is necessary to reach the back of the vagina; this is called pudendal nerve anesthesia.

The perianal area can also be punctured, either to numb the tissues before destroying condylomas or with a larger needle to drain blood from hemorrhoids.

Finally, an injection can be made through the vaginal fornix to retrieve oocytes from the ovaries. Here, a large needle is used in conjunction with ultrasound guidance.

This ultrasound-guided system will also be used to collect tissue samples from inside the breast and send them for analysis.

The only one I can think of in a normal exam, would be if the patient is given a birth control shot like Depo
