Care and feeding of our plastic panties

As has been mentioned on here , I too, think that diapering is not complete until the plastic pants have been slid up and secured over the diapers. For both cloth and disposable. Remember my mother bunching the leg bands and waist band as she pulled them up so as not to stress the stitching through the plastic where it joined the elastic. Then there is the well known air drying (not sun, and I don’t even risk dryers even at cool settings). Recently I ordered several new pairs and they came enclosed in zip lock bags. I’ve kept them in those bags after use-and cleaning-and they seem not to be drying out and stiffening as fast. Now that can be good or bad. If one likes the sound of their panties whispering out probably better to get a touch stiff, but for those who like the soft comforting feeling maybe this helps. (I’m really just ‘supposing’ here. Perhaps with so many of you who do use plastic panties for all or any of the various reasons you’ve discovered ways to keep them softer longer?

I don’t think I have anything of significance to add, for keeping plastic pants in good condition longer. You’ve touched on the important. Just rinsing them out, better than machine washing, out of the sun air drying. If you’d want to speed up things for drying, you can run a fluffy towel over them. Using power when putting them on, can also reduce stress at the leg & waist.

Storing in bags, I suppose could help keep the hydrocarbons in the pants longer, thus keeping them softer longer.

I have vinyl plastic panties that I've owned for twenty years that are still soft and nice; I'm glad that pvc formulation has advanced to the point that this can be the case, because it definitely wasn't in the 1950's or 60's. Plasticizer loss happens with the use of vinyl plastic panties and other plastic garments, not with age. Therefore I suspect that storing in bags wouldn't make a difference.

I wear the plastic pants I've slept in into the shower, and turn them inside out and give them a good rinse, then hang them upside down from a wire that I cut from a wire coat hanger. I have another hanger, a yardstick that's weighted with some old sweaters on the top closet shelf, that I use if a panty hasn't dried completely the first day. This happens sometimes when I don't shower until later in the day.

I have a few polyurethane (pu) plastic pants too - these last a really long time. I don't love the feel of them as much as vinyl pants, but wear them now and then just for the different feel. I've gotten pu pants from Chinese suppliers in both colors and prints, which don't seem available from US suppliers.
