I never liked Fleets. They really didn't work for me. Concerned about water quality when we travel, which we are blessed to do a lot, and finding hotel and train bathrooms not enema amenable I asked Twinkling Granny what I should do. I have been chronically constipated since I was a little boy over sixty years ago. She recommended Micralax mini enemas, but also said I should speak to my doctor about this if I was going to use them routinely.
I have to admit that the thought of speaking to my doctor about such an intimate aspect of my life and telling her about the way I manage my constipation, enemas and colonics, really scary. How ever she turned out to be so understanding and wrote me a repeat prescription so I can get the mini enemas from the pharmacy, free of charge due to my great age, whenever I need them.
While not as effective as a conventional enema I find them convenient, I can implant in bed and they make my insides move. Twinkling Granny was a midwife and community health nurse and definitely knows how to sort naughty bottoms! She told me that she had been using them on patients for over thirty years and they had definitely stood the test of time.
She did say recently " Dear friend, regarding taking microlax often, I had great results but at times not so good. I deduced that the more the lower bowl was full less absorbtion took place and so more frequent doses were needed. I hope this helps"
