Real problem discovered in doctor-play

On a more serious note, has anyone (as a play-patient) had a real medical issue discovered or actually "diagnosed" one (as a play-doctor) ? As in, "you know, you should probably get that looked at"?

Not personally, but I’ve read about it a couple times.

Consider it a good thing - early detection. And odds are good that it is being found earlier than it would have, so be thankful if you can.

And go get it checked. Don’t worry about questions … just say it was found by a partner and move on …

The vast majority of my patients get regularly checked and know about their medical history and tell me about it before I examine them.

But the important exception regards the stuff that GPs don't usually check... I've found varicocele on patients who didn't know about it twice already, though it wasn't not something that they needed to have checked.

When you play a lot, you get a lot of interesting situations. I have been involved in detecting quite a few breast lumps - all except 2 of them were benign. The 2 needed some treatment but it wasn't like I was detecting late stage cancer.

I have also "discovered" Bartholin cyst on one of my patients

It was not a play doctor but a masseuse who stumbled across the clips used for my vasectomy. She was very concerned when she noticed them and said I should see a doctor. She seemed relieved when I explained them to her. She is the only one that has ever commented on them.
