I get feeling nervous, especially since you know what will take place for the most part. It's a very common experience for me to be anxious and then ruminate about the upcoming exam for days ahead of time. After, it's always a relief but also services to allow for a replay of everything that occurred. The latter is more enjoyable then the anticipation of what is to happen in the exam room, which all becomes so real once I have fully undressed!

It is completely normal to feel anxious. I went through my share of anxiety for years on end when I had to go to the doctor. I had to start with a new doctor recently due to a career change and relocation. We had a zoom meeting prior to my physical and his demeanor and actions made me feel at ease. This was the first time I have ever seen a doctor or other health care provider where my blood pressure respiration and pulse weren't just a little elevated. This time all three werre within in the normal range which made me very happy. Perceive your annual physical as a positive experience you're going to walk out of there with a clean bill of health knowing that everything is okay.

I used to get anxiety before my physical, but not anymore. These days, I spend a few brief minutes with the doctor, and then I’m usually sent to the lab for bloodwork. I don’t miss the old days when I was told to strip down to my underwear, and bend over for a rectal exam. Do they even do that anymore? I think it’s totally humiliating.
