Full Male Reproductive System Exam

Has anybody had a full male genital and prostate exam including orchidometer,urethral swab,ultrasound,anoscopy,urine sample, and sperm sample done by a urologist?

No but I’d certainly like to have one going by your description of what it involves.

Sounds like a play exam experience. Doubt anyone would get that treatment at a real urologist these days.

Except for the anoscopy that’s what my first visit to my new urologist office was like.

I had a “fertility exam” when we were planning on having kids as it was taking longer than we hoped. I was brought into the exam room and asked to remove my pants and underwear and was given a drape for my lap. Once the doctor came in she discussed with my wife and I possible issues and a lengthy history that was focused on sexual/genital issues. She then said she wanted to do an exam of my testicles, penis, and a prostate exam. I had already given a urine sample before being roomed. She had me lie back and she pulled the sheet down and examined my penis flaccid and moved onto my testicles. As she was examining me I became hard. After I was erect she continued examining me and commented that I had no problem achieving erection even noting the firmness. After she finished she asked me to stand and once again palpated my testicles then had me lean over for a prostate exam. When she finished she said they would need a sperm sample and asked if I could produce it while I was there. (Dumb question because if she would have pushed on my prostate any harder I would have shot a load on the floor.) I told her I could and asked if I needed to go to the restroom or if I could do it there. She said given my “condition” glancing at my erection I could do it there. She handed me a cup from a cabinet and stepped out. My wife held the cup for me as I masturbated and ejaculated into the cup.

I partecipated in a medical trial for an ED drug and all participants had a complete reproductive system examination in hospital lasting two days.

First day:

Sexual & medical history,

Genital exam including prostate DRE, urologic examination with urethral instruments,

Fasting glucose / HbA1c, Hormones (testosterone, LH, FSH, prolactin), PSA, Urinalysis

ECG, Echocardiography / stress test, blood pressure monitoring

Nocturnal penile tumescence

Second day:

Penile Doppler ultrasound

Pharmacologic erection test, cavernosometry

Uroflowmetry and Cystometry

Perineal and pelvic floor EMG

Penile biothesiometry with ejaculatory latency test (semen was also collected by a nurse for sperm analysis)

It was certainly the most accurate reproductive health examination I had.

@Obertaller wow. That is quite the list! Ill have to look for those type of studies... curious about the urethral devices though. What was that for? Seems like something most volunteers would be a little nervous about. Not all of course 😉

@Desperatepatient urethral instruments are a meatometer, an urethral sound, meatoscope and a flexible cystoscope. They want to assess health of urethra and urethral sphincters.

@Obertaller that seems like a lot for a casual person to go through! I'm surprised there would be so many people willing to do that. Most "casuals" would get nervous at just one of those things going into their urethra let alone multiple.

Years ago my wife I were really trying hard to get pregnant. Nothing was working because she had come off the pill almost a year earlier, we did the basal temperature thing where each morning it was taken before she got out of bed so we could pinpoint when she was ovulating. We knew exactly when her ovaries were doing their thing and I would even leave late for work or come home early just to have sex--don't get me wrong because I love getting laid but doing it so often on command can get old. Still nothing, so the next step was for me to see the urologist where I had to give a semen sample as well as have an ultrasound. My wife also got a bunch of tests and all the doctors said that we were both healthy and that there should be no reason not to conceive. Still nothing. It never happened and we decided to not pursue IVF. We still enjoy a healthy sex life even if the occasions are nowhere as frequent.

@Obertaller sounds like a fun two days! Don't know what you have to do to get into such a program, but I would love it! Too old now... 😢

My first urology visit was 40 years ago and fertility based. A urinalysis, followed by a thorough genital exam (my first that involved palpation of my penis) followed by a prostate massage and evaluation of the expressed prostate fluid (bacterial prostatitis discovered.) After two weeks of antibiotics, a return visit and another semen analysis (this one produced in the women's bathroom with my wife's assistance before the appointment.) That sample showed the infection cleared. I was referred to a university medical center for a hamster-egg test a week later, requiring masturbation into what looked like a 35 mm film canister. I have had many urology visits since those halcyon days, the most recent being 9 this year where virtually every one of my med fet boxes got ticked, except for a few of the fancy extra-naughty tests that @Obertaller describes... 😉 See my blog Be Careful What You Wish For for details!

Never heard of that. I would question whether some doctors today understand and accept that the male and female reproductive systems are uniquely different, and cannot be changed.

That type of examination only happens in my fantasies.
