Usually do one once or twice a month. I like the pain and cramps when I let it run quite quickly, and particularly like expelling it and letting all the "badness" out especially if I've been blocked up.

My preference is very pragmatic and practical.

Suppositories only clear out the rectal area and sometimes don't even work if you are really constipated. Also, dulcolax can be very uncomfortable and tie my bowel in knots a long time after the bowel movement.

Laxatives are unpredictable and sometimes don't work at all. Also, I have two Docs, one my endochronolgist and the other my Gi doc who don;t like laxatives, either stimulant or Mirralax type, because they usually cause dependence, almost addiction. They both think enemas are OK for occasional use.

Enemas are predictable, they always work, and a well given soapsuds one, or two always leave me with a complete cleanout feeling. I will feel great for the rest of the day. On non-enema days and days when I am just relying on mag oxide or mirralax, even though I will usually have a decent bowel movement, I still feel constipated the whole day.

I have always been occasionally constipated. I am on Mounjaro for diebetes control which really constpates me. My GI doc wants me to start Linzess, which I haven't tried yet.

In my previous post I talked about all the "why I like enemas" ideas, and never mentioned the downside to using a soap suds enema.

The biggest one is convenience. Even at best an enema takes 45 minutes. So, you have to have at least 45 minutes to an hour. Also, privacy. When you disappear into the bathroom for an hour, your are likely to get "are you OK in there". Answering "I'm giving myself an enema, and will be out in a while" just doesn't work well in my house. Even when I have just grabbed a Fleet for a quick enema, it still takes about 20 minutes.

So sometimes a suppository is more convenient, but you still need to stay close to the toilet for 20 minutes or so. Mirralax is quick to take, and mixes well with coffee, but takes 3 days. So, 2 drays of constipation misery.

I guess there is no perfect solution, unless your body tells you "I am really going to be constipated in 3 days, so plan ahead".

My siblings and I started getting enemas before age five, and as far back as I can remember, we all liked them. Somewhere around age five or six, mom started giving us enemas together laying across our bed. In the beginning, it was just my brother and I, then our sister was added a short time later. Enemas were always pleasurable, but as we got older, they started becoming even more pleasurable in ways we didn’t understand. Finally some time for yourself. I'm with my mother-in-law, who luckily is out shopping. So now I can finally enjoy a good Enema. Just embrace the pleasure an Enema makes mind and body. I must be very horny since I empty my Enema Bags with only one pause. My anus and intestines absorb everything quickly. I have also laid down on the side which helps to increase the speed.

I hold my Enema as long as I can. Now lying in bed and letting my Enema finish its work. After 12 minutes it has come to empty its bowels. A thick jet comes out under high speed. My shit has turned into a thick soft consistency that comes out in jet after jet. When I want to flush, the water in the toilet rises for a short while. And I start preparing the next Enema
