At my dentist, you check in and wait in the waiting room (usually not long at all, don't know that I've ever waited more than 15 minutes) until your assigned dental hygienist calls you back (you always see the same one). Then, after she spends 15-20 minutes cleaning your teeth, she pages the intercom on her phone to let the dentist know her patient is ready for the dentist to examine them "*hygienist's name* is ready"
I fantasize about a sort of rectal exam clinic that operates similarly, with the focus on the body's exit as opposed to entrance. Patients would wait nervously until a nurse calls them back. Like my dentist's office, doors to the exam rooms are left wide open. There are doors in case of a loud, whiny, or uncooperative patient, but these doors are glass. Instead of a dental exam chair, there is medical exam table. It can lay flat, but also has the reclined position, stirrups, and the proctology exam position - face down, bottom high up. The tables even have straps and restraints, for the patient's safety, if deemed necessary. There would be an x-ray room for barium enemas and similar procedures. As you walk with the nurse, you can't help but glance into the open exam rooms, noticing all the exposed male and female butts. The state of undress varies, as it is up to both the patient and the nurse. Some are in a gown with the back wide open, some only remove their pants and underwear, and some naked down to their socks! Most of them are receiving or holding an enema, from their nurse, perhaps deemed a rectal hygienist. Rooms have an attached bathroom, as well as a colonic machine. Much like a dental hygienist, these nurses are well stocked with equipment, with various enema nozzles, bags, and syringes. Once the nurse has thoroughly cleaned the patient out, they page for the proctologist over the intercom. Depending on the patient and the necessary exam procedure, the doctor may have to shut the door on the way in so as to not let out any grunts, moans, or screams. There are plenty of tools to examine the rectum as well, including anoscopes, proctoscopes, speculums, rigid and flexible sigmoidoscopes, and even sex toys. Depending on the patient's history and reason for the appointment, perhaps it is just a routine check up, it may be a very quick exam with just a visual & digital inspection of their bottom. However, less fortunate patients are subject to various instruments, sometimes multiple instruments, being forced up their bottom in various positions.
