Are there times stimulation is intense but not sexual?

This is difficult for me to define. A longtime ago a partner massaged my penis and slowly massaged my entire glans by holding the shaft with one hand while she cupped the palm over the gland and began a slow massage, it was intense causing me to spasm or clench with each rotation. Then as she continued I began to lose my erection but she still held on and massaged. A strange thing happened, the intensity was still there but it became something else. The sensation became calming and accepted by my body. It was still intense but settling and a pleasant sensation that radiated from my genital area through my body.

Yes. It was erotic, sexual because of how and where it originated, but it became intensely relaxing. If that makes sense?

Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Male or female?

I have been for a massage a few times and find it very erotic when my buttocks and anal area are stroked.
