Ladies have you ever been checked for inguinal hernias?

Ladies have you ever been checked for inguinal hernias? If so how were you checked?

Although less common in women, inguinal hernias do happen, and are checked by having the patient cough or bear down while palpating the actual inguinal canal at the outside edge of each lower quadrant. As it is part of the abdominal exam, I'm sure many of my patients didn't realize that's part of what I was checking.
