I purchased a Coloclean from Medtech a few years back (good vendor but not all products robust.)
Unfortunately the Coloclean is not robust: the balloon bursts easily on the nozzle, the bags are too small, the waste tubing is too short. In the UK we would describe this as a 'Noddy' system for home colonics. In addition the nozzle is too small to act as a proper retention nozzle unlike hard butt plug nozzles or DBLs from Medtech/OHN or TBLs from Sandan as the speculum is too small in the Coloclean and moves easily in the anus. Result: leaks. So annoying in CI sessions...
Fortunately there are better solutions (as it were) for home CI systems:
a) If you can buy the plastic colonic speculums OTC or off the Internet get them (in the UK they are easy to buy). You can also get metal specula from India. All can be cleaned in autoclaves or dishwashers on standalone cycles.
b) The colonic irrigitation speculum sleeves from siliconenozzles.com are ideal: essentially they are buttplugs into which the specula are inserted (standard size ones, the Coloclean nozzle does not fit). They come in 2.5inch or 2.75 inch diameter sleeves with a 1 inch bore for the speculum. These eliminate the leaks problem as most posteriors will close on the sleeves.
c) Tubing etc: you can get the 1 inch waste tubing either from CI vendors or hardware stores. Other tubing sizes ditto.
d) Bags: Ideal bags are 10 L or 20L camping bags for water or showers with taps. I have got them from Amazon or camping stores . These are usually pretty sturdy plastic bags to be hung with heavy duty S hooks ( I use a pair to hang bags high on a fixed shower door frame in a wet room: the drop is at least eight feet).
e) You can also get flow control taps and flow indicators as well to control the flow which is much bigger than a conventional enema bag system
f) You can then put it all together and add a mini multispeed vibrator to be attached with a clamp to the speculum which is inserted into a sleeve. fun, fun, fun...
g) If you can set it up in a bathroom or wet room with toilet a long run of the waste tube to the toilet provides the ideal solution for continuous expulsion.
This kind of home system provides a near perfect emulator for a professional CI system with the added bonus that leaks are virtually eliminated. I have been doing this for a number of years now but the main problem is finding the time for a CI session which can last several hours: I like to start with suppositories followed by a couple of cleansing enemas to clean out the anus to minimise waste blockages with subsequent CI sessions. A 20L seesion can take a good 20-40 minutes depending on your tolerated flow rate. Sometimes if possible I like to devote a day to this. I do find that after CI I find I am much less tired than with enema sessions and that I am as clean as a whistle ...
Of course how far down this route you can go depends on your circumstances, available footprint, and budget. I reckon I have probably spent about $150 over the years on this home grown system but it has the advantage that it is reusable, renewable parts, easy to clean and maintain and there are no leaks. The only limiting factor for me is time and when that is in short supply I resort to enemas.
Hope this experience and feedback helps.
