It was my mother who was a big believer in spanking and could easily find fault in what I did.My dad never disciplined or even reprimanded me once. When I was little I think that made me prefer him to her, but as I got older it seemed to come over more as a disinterest (he didn’t praise either, whereas my mum did). As a teen I got it into my head that it really should be my dad who was my disciplinarian even if it was just a stern man to man talk. On one occasion, after I had hid the phone bill due to calling a sex line, I owned up to my dad about it. He was like “oh well, it’s a natural thing”. And then later told my mum, who was mad. It was confusing lol.
My main disciplinarian was my father who spanked me until I was 17. The only other person to spank me was my aunt who gave me a helluva spanking when I was 16.
Always Mom. Dad never had the heart to physically punish us. He didn't even reprimand us often. The odd thing is that if Mom said something along the lines of "Wait till your father gets home" we would all shrink in terror. Years later, after we were grown, we figured out it wasn't physical punishment we feared from him, but the idea of disappointing him.
My mum would give me quick on the spot wallopings for minor infractions but if there was anything serious - like the time I stole a bottle of wine and took it into the woods with friends, or the time I set a fire extinguisher off in the English department, my parents would "double up" and hammer the lesson home a bit harder. Usually it was mum but she was more than capable of making me reassess whether my actions were a good choice or not.
It was both parents, but I definately got spanked more by my mom. I think she was just around more to dish out the spankings.
