Temperature under the blanket?

Have you ever taken your temperature while lying on your stomach in bed, covered by a blanket? If the blanket is heavy, you will feel this pressure on the thermometer, especially if you move a little. This feeling reminds me of when I was little and my parents would take my temperature, always holding the thermometer in place. Do you know that feeling?

I've never had it taken with a blanket over. I do know the feeling of having the thermometer held in place. I might have to try that the next time.

I don't know it with the blanket over it. But in my case, my underpants were pulled up so that the thermometer couldn't slip out. That was a very intense feeling.

My mom and my grandma didn’t believe in doing this. They wanted to have the thermometer in Plainview at all times also in all hospital settings that I was in they always wanted the thermometer in full view. Also at the doctors they never pulled my underwear up over the thermometer, personally, I believe this could be dangerous and cause possible rectal perforation.🌡️🧴🧻

I was never covered with a blanket when my rectal temperature was taken as a kid. My bottom was always fully exposed as far as I remember. When I started to meet men beginning when I was 18, rectal temperature taking was done for pleasure. And I was almost always the taker because none of the guys had experienced rectal temperatures as adults before. I guess that might depend on the type of thermometer being used and how heavy or light the blanket is. For me it's not uncomfortable, but I guess it's very important to be careful when doing that.

It was this way that I was made to take my temperature as a kid, except that I was on the side, not on stomach, if I recall correctly. I think it is easier to reach back and insert in this position than on the tummy.

When I was already in bed for my parents to take my temperature, they always took the duvet off me. So I never felt the pressure of the duvet on me.

I once had a very caring nurse who was taking my rectal temperature, cover me with a light sheet. I was laying on the exam table on

my stomach. It was a glass thermometer but I don’t recall it having any pressure on it from the sheet.

I remember her saying, “Just , in case any staff walk in here.”
