Medications affecting masturbating?

Do you take medications that cause changes in your sexual pleasure?

My ADHD meds have been interesting in this respect. I know they can have some ejaculatory side effects. I've found that at least 50% of the time now I will ejaculation prior to my orgasm. My ejaculation is also less "shooting" and a lot more prostatic fluid and more of a flow. To be fair, I've also gotten more adept with activating my pelvic muscles, which is definitely playing into this to at least some degree. Intensity of orgasm is unchanged. While there is definitely something to be said getting to see you ejaculate with a great deal of force, this hasn't been "bad" either; the slippery feeling of my cum down my penis definitely increases the pleasure and so when I do orgasm it does feel a bit more intense at times. Its an interesting quirk.

FloMax or Alfuzosin relax the muscles around the prostate as well as the bladder itself which results in reduced or retrograde ejaculations. They are both used to reduce symptoms of BPH.

It depends on which meds you're taking. The psychairtist I've been working with insisted on trying every non-stimulant medication before allowing me to try the stimulant ones. (Now on Vyvanse 50mg and it's working well.)

One of the ones we tried was Cymbalta and that just turned my dick off. I couldn't have an erection much less an orgasm. So I stopped that one immediately.

Wellbutrin was one of the first ones we tried. It didn't help the ADHD but it helped mood otherwise so I've stayed on it. No sexual side-effects to note - in fact I think it was helping with libido maybe.

@Jason_U I'm on Atomoxetine (Strattera). Its one of the non-stimulants. Overall I am happy with it, and I can live with the odd ejaculatory side effect since it doesn't really affect the pleasure side of things lol.

Wellbutrin isn't known to have any significant sexual side effects, which is what makes it a nice med for both depression, smoking session, and ADHD.

I've got a nervous tick and was prescribed 40mg Paxil to help knock it down a bit. It helps but damn, it takes an hour to get a nut masturbating. It takes so long to finish I have to wear a cock ring to keep it hard enough to get the job done. A little less time with my wife. I've been cutting them in halves and quarters to minimize the side effects.

I find when I take ibuprofen for pain, not often, that I have no interest. Same with Nyquil. Seems to deaden the feeling of wanting to masturbate.

I was on paroxetine for years and more recently switched to escitalopram. The desire to masturbate is less frequent. Erections are more difficult to get and sustain. Orgasm and ejaculation take tremendous effort and time. So I mostly just edge and enjoy. Usually a wet dream about every three weeks or so. My marriage has been sexless for about 20 years.

Flomax or any alpha blocker. Affects erections and orgasm strength in men

I've been taking an SSRI for almost a year now, and it has a profound effect on my libido. Prior, I masturbated every day at least once. Now I just don't have the lust.

And when I do, it takes considerably longer to reach a climax. But thankfully, there's no real noticeable change in the intensity.

I use an injectable medication called Trimix to mitigate erectile dysfunction. The drug mixture helps me sustain a hard erection for up to 90 minutes, and adjusting the dosage up or down affects both erection quality and duration. On a high-end dosage, my erection is so rigid that I experience delayed orgasm and ejaculation. A typical relaxing masturbation session becomes frustrating clock watching. I feel my meds for sure have an impact on this! Dulls it down a lot for sure!

@UpstateNY You're lucky. I had my knee scoped a couple years back and my shin was numb for almost 4 months. If I couldn't orgasm for a few months I would have started a malpractice suit.

Over the years I have been on and off silodosin also known as Rapaflo. It relaxes the prostate area and relieves bph symptoms. Sexually it gives me firm erections and shuts off the ability to ejaculate. I can have a delicious orgasm and be hard and ready for another dry orgasm.

Unfortunately silodosin is very expensive and my new drug coverage does not cover it.

I have taken flomax and that has resulted in little or no ejaculate during orgasm. The orgasm is this weaker but I do not feel the release of sexual energy that normally accompanies orgasm, ergo, I can continue to masturbate and enjoy it.

From my life long experience with medications in pill or injection form. Paxil was the worst, there was absolutely NO sex drive or desires of any kind period. Flomax didn't interfere with erections, but no ejaculate during or after orgasm.

My MtF transition HRT medications and injections I'll put in a different category per say. Because of larger to smaller or vice versa dosage the effects where different in most cases.

Spironolactone (injection) every two weeks for the testosterone blocker was very hard to achieve erections if any at the higher dosage. However could orgasm with little to no ejaculate. The lower dosage (pill) was only used the first month just lowering sex drive.

Female hormone injection every two weeks, the first month was a smaller dosage. It's hard to say because of the Spironolactone was doing it's thing and female hormone doing it's.

The dosage was largely increased after the first month until I had my orchictomy. Again it's hard to say, my moods where different one minute to the next at most times.

After my orchictomy my female hormone injection dosage was lowered to half dosage for two weeks. I stopped taking the Spironolactone. I did notice more sex drive.

The female hormone injection was increased to three quarters dosage because of level of hormones from blood test. My sex drive went into overdrive which currently still is.

Just a little note: I'm a test and study patient thru a university for research on a new transgender affirmation hormone injection that hasn't been cleared by the FDA. The patients DO NOT know anything about this hormone injection including name, ingredients, or dosage used for confidential purposes.

Patient get any related blood test, lab work, medication and or injections, exams, consultation, and orchictomy by choice for free. I also get SRS bottom surgery done at the university for half price.

SSRI/SNRI (antidepressant) medications are well known to cause sexual side effects in many males.

Years ago my doctor had me do trial runs of several antidepressants including Cymbalta and Effexor, as well as the tricyclic antidepressant Amitriptyline to see if they would help with a chronic pain issue I was having. (they are commonly used for pain in the United States, not sure about elsewhere in the world)

Unfortunately they were not effective for my pain, but they also caused a complete lack of interest in anything sexual. When I would try to have sex or masturbate, it was nearly impossible for me to reach an orgasm or ejaculate.

When it came up in conversation, two of my best friends reported similar issues when they took antidepressants.

It's almost like a cruel joke - give a guy an antidepressant because he is depressed, but simultaneously take away his interest and ability to have sex/masturbate. That alone could easily make a guy depressed !!
