Did your mom know or suspect how you liked having her there, seeing your exams?

Did your mom seem to know or suspect how much you liked having her there, seeing everything? If so, how did she react to this? Was she flattered, amused, uncomfortable, or not really care? Did she ever say anything to you about it?

Honestly, it would not have mattered to my mother. For one thing, it was required until 16, like it or not (to be clear, I liked it). After that, my mom still wanted to be there to watch and listen and talk to the doctor. And by that point I had had so many nude physical exams in front of her that it would not have mattered. Doctors back when I was a kid were not concerned about privacy and modesty especially for children and teens. She came with me through the end of high school and might have done so after but my dad took me to his doctor for my pre-college physical exam and all of my physicals after that one.

A possibly interesting twist on this question is whether the doctor suspected. My doctor always made the same lame joke about "checking the plumbing" while I was lying on the exam table, just before he lowered my undies to mid thigh. Whether he intended for it to be or not, that lame joke was my mom's cue to get up from her chair and watch him examine my genitals. Likewise, later when he had me standing, he made a similar joke about it being time to see me in my birthday suit just before lowering my undies for the hernia test.

While I was a late bloomer, providing a special reason for my mom to witness my physicals, including genital exams, until I finally "caught up" at 16, I definitely remember one time being weighed in the hall and seeing an older boy being taken into an exam room with his mom. At the time, I figured he was a senior in high school.

When I was born, that pediatrician group likely was the closest to my home, but my small hometown grew very quickly in the 80s, so by the time I was in high school, we were driving past dozens of pediatricians to keep going to the one we'd been going to. Moms talk. If they find a pediatrician who does more thorough exams without kicking the moms out of the room, and they think that's a good thing, word spreads, and that doctor gets the most business.

The question is: are the doctors themselves in on it? My doctor was old and old-fashioned enough that he may have been oblivious. I'm curious whether anyone here got the sense that the doctor definitely knew what they were doing in this regard.

Makes you wonder, doesn't it? Perhaps the doc thought he was being a "bro" by giving you the "thrill" of exposing you to your mom, while at the same time accommodating your mom by satisfying her curiosity about your development.

This is why I wish that the open nude male swimming competitions of the 1950s through the 1970s never ended. The guys could show off all they wanted, the ladies could look to their hearts' content, and everyone went home happy.

For those who were there, it had to be a deeply satisfying experience once the initial awkwardness was overcome. I desperately wish that I coulda been there ( as one of the swimmers ).

Same here. @Tighty_Whiteis_Now I'm curious as to the reasons you liked it. Did your feelings change over time?

I am not sure that all boys pre-teenagers or teenagers liked to be naked in front of their mothers at a physical exam in front of a doctor -male or female - and sometimes with a female nurse present, it could mean that they were naked in front of three women but even if the doctor was male , it could be embarrassing if a boy was shy towards nudity, all were not exhibitionist or used to be seen naked at home by mothers

And I am not sure also that a doctor was conscious that a mother enjoyed to see her son naked and that a son enjoyed to be seen naked by his mother, no matter was his age even until last grades of high school or college, I believe rather that many doctors especially male ones were old school and did not mind about the feelings and thoughts of a boy, male nudity was for them pretty normal because it was not manly to be shy and modest, so if a boy was reluctant to strip completely, he might get used to it even in presene of his mother

And eventually, I am not sure that all mothers enjoyed to see their sons naked, the nudity was still taboo in many families, they were present because it was the social norm, a kind of implicit rule, that a good mother caring well about the health of her son came with him at his visit to a doctor and if the doctor required full nudity they saw their son naked but it was not by pleasure..

And as regard woman doctors, it could be for the same reasons than for a male doctor, a boy might not be shamed to be naked, may be also because they liked their power to instruct a boy to strip completely in front of mothers and possibly nurses when they were teenagers, a kind of CFMN situation that they liked.

As regards swimming in the nude for boys as a rule at school or YMCA centers, I doubt that all boys enjoyed to be seen naked by not only mothers and friends but also very often by sisters and friends or aunts or girls classmates, some enjoyed it certainly but others were mortified to expose completely their naked bodies to a female audience. Even if some boys stated in relations that they liked it , it might be the feeling of all boys.

what was the most interesting was that when there was a discussion at a schol board to decide of the maintain or not of the rule of swimming in the nude for boys, it is related that very often the mothers were the most numerous to vote in favor of the maintain of the rule but I think that it was more for the respect of a school tradition and for a rule who was supposed to be a good way to discipline strictly boys who were supposed to be unruly than because they liked to see their sons naked...

I liked it for the same reasons that you so articulately expressed. And the only feelings that changed were that the sensation got stronger as I got older. A ten year old boy standing naked in front of his mom during a physical exam is a very different experience than a 17 year old boy doing the same.

I don't know if my mom liked seeing us naked, or is that the right word? From my experience I would say that she felt tranquility and pride. That her children didn't have any problems and that they turned out well. Personally, and I believe the same with my siblings, we weren't embarrassed about being naked; it was something very natural. We stopped practicing it in public, at the beach or in the pool, until we were almost 11, but at home she saw us naked until we were 18.

At medical exams, She had to be present, so she was usually attentive or looking at a magazine. In the US, he usually took us two at a time. I had to go with my younger brother, so I went with him until I was 14. After that, in Spain, I went alone with my mom.

She noticed that I was embarrassed, especially when the doctor examined my groin, because he described everything or asked me questions to break the ice, or just made innocent jokes.

I can't imagine my mother having to see me naked at a doctors visit, and I think I would have been embarrassed to even have my father there under those circumstances, although I was not particularly shy about nudity as a kid. My mother certainly was.

It just wasn't something that was done the UK when I was growing up. The only time you saw a doctor was if you had a problem. In primary school the nurse would give a quick check, pulling the waistband of your underwear out to get a look. I think that was mainly for fleas, or lice.

There was definitely no checking to see if your were developing in the genital department. Certainly no nude swimming at school or YMCA.

On that note I am curious. Did the girls have nude swimming classes at school, YMCA as well as the boys in the USA? And did Fathers sometimes accompany girls for their doctors check-ups?
