Best tape for shoring up plastic-backed diapers?

Does anyone have any experience adding some kind of adhesive tape to the sides of plastic-backed diapers to make them more resilient, especially for overnight wearing?

If so, what’s the most effective type of tape to use?

I have done this when I became incontinent. Trying and experimenting what disposable diapers work and which one's don't.

I had a very hard time finding good diapers that didn't leak and held together. The tape tabs always tearing off.

I would use the 3M brand of packaging tape. I used it all the way around the very top and mid way down. Basically over the top of the tape tabs.

I had no issues with the diaper stretching or pulling apart by doing this.It didn't help with the leaks problems.

Just understand that was with the cheap junk department stores diapers. Both cloth like and plastic backing disposable diapers.

With the premium plastic backing disposable diapers that I use today, it's very rare that I have any problems with tape taps and diaper stretching issues.

However they do swell a great bit the wetter they get. But it's not the diaper stretching out of shape or just falling apart.

My opinion is, you get what you pay for. By using premium diapers does cost a little more. But by having to change much more because of tearing tape tabs or busting out diapers it isn't. Not to mention the embarrassing leaks.

Oh, I almost forgot!! Make sure you have a good pair scissors to actually cut the diaper off down the sides for removing or changing. Medical scissors work great.

I like to use clear hockey sock tape. Its narrow like the tapes and i can get the diaper so much tighter. I find it helps keep them up for me as well because i dont have hips.

Or the clear gorilla tape works very well as its strong and wide, bu its more expensive.

Hi I saw your post on how to make cheap plastic back diaper tapes stay stuck . Well I wear disposable diapers all the time . An use the medical grade diapers . So first they don't hold a lot if you know that . So In the first diaper I put a baby diaper with a cut in the back of the diaper to let the pee go through to the main diaper . Then I also put a cut into the medical diaper backing to let the pee flow through . Then to make all that last a while I use another medical diaper plastic backed over that diaper . The problem I found was the outer diaper tapes wouldn't hold very long .

So I found that by getting a big roll of White duck tape . I took an cut thin strips of the tape for the diaper tapes . Then I just put one of the strips over each of the diaper tapes an press them on good . An the tape that way help very good for me . An even lasted over night .

I’ve found the white tyvek tape for houses sticks the best and is much less stiff than duct tape. You will need scissors to remove.
