Tummy Muscles

Since I am new I have a question about retention and my tummy being extended. Does it hurt your tummy muscles to be extended on a consistent basis?

Not mine. I use large (generally 3-qt) enemas often and hold about a half hour.

My muscles appear to be perfectly normal.

Only if your abdomen was distended for a long long period of time. Even in such a case, you would only have sore muscles. A gradual extension won't tear or hurt in any way.

In take 4 qts. and am streched pretty good, with no ill effects

I have done 3 to 4 quarts and have never had any problems. the only issue i had was i looked like i was about 5 months pregnant but no muscle problems.

when I was in my early 20's, I added exercises that focused on tightening my abdominal muscles because I saw so much distention when I was filled and holding. Today @ 57 while I do not have nor ever have had "joe sixpack" abs, my stomach remains as flat as it was 30+ years ago, I hope you find something useful in my comment.

I never look distended like some of the photos seen on this forum. Even after 3 1/2 quarts it barely shows. But hours later I can tell that I got stretched a little as the muscles feel slightly sore.

I'm in my 60s. I have had a lot of enemas, usually series of 3 two quart enemas, starting with hot, soapsuds, followed by salt/baking soda rinses. A few times, I have reached 3 quarts. I have a very slim belly. In fact, my 36 y/o partner complains that my belly is too slim. 😁 I don't think enemas have anything to do with waist size, what you eat does. One has to be disciplined.

Holding a large enema is not pleasant! There is usually some pain nin the lower abdomen. I cried during my first 4-qt enema, even though I had taken several 3-qt enemas and oral laxatives to get to a clear return.

It did leave a certain amount of permanent bulge that has to be dealt with appropriately!!

Repeated enemas will give you a bit of a permanent "pooch" in the lower abdomen.

There are enough other things that cause it that if you can manage to keep totally chiseled after your mid 20s, you are at least blessed with better genes than most people. Those of us who aren't blessed with perfect genetics need to take other measures.

As for "does it hurt?" Most enemas hurt at least part of the time, but it's not severe.

An enema that really does distend the bowel, like a 4-qt will hurt in a different way, like it is overstretching something, because it is!

When I am finished with a system cleanout, I rest for half an hour or so, and then I put on one of my wear-to-work girdles to sort of push it all back together again.

If I'm new and trying to get distension with how much should I start out with to work my way there?
