@Examinedguy89 , I don’t remember I heard anything about development. But at 14 obviously development should have been examined. I remember we were naked, lots of boys in the big hall and some had visible black pubic hair which inevitably attracted my yes, while some boys were almost hairless. Same was with penis sizes, hugely varying. I am sure one of the doctors made notes on those variabilities.

Regarding sexual activity I think I can remember a question asked by a dermatologist, one of the members of medical board, asking me when I was 16, if I had any sexual activities so far. I didn’t have at that time and said no. She still examined me, likewise she did with all other boys as if we did have sex, to rule out any sexually transmitted infections. So she checked the penis, glans, skin on scrotum, and even checked our anuses as it was assumed that we could already have STI associated with homosexual sex. Fo 16 year old shy boys the chance was nearly zero, but still it was included in examination template.

Ah very interesting. Would you look around during your exams to compare etc. and do you remember if they checked underarms and armpit hair during any of them

Yes, I personally looked around. I don’t remember that armpits were specifically checked. But if they were, I wouldn’t notice. They may be checked while I was asked to raise arms.

An update on Germany: Musterung (the compulsory medical examination of conscripts) will resume from summer 2027 (this had been suspended since 2011). The new law has just been published and provides for the following.

1. In addition to the doctor, an assistant must be present during the medical examination (to protect the army from claims of abuse). Under the old law, this was not mandatory, even though it was often the case even back then. These medical assistants are currently being recruited for 2027 and will predominantly be female and, as they are newly recruited, often very young. The doctor is almost always a woman as well, so our Gen Z conscripts will have the pleasure of undressing completely in front of two women, one of whom is barely older than the conscript themselves.

2. Under the new legislation, a thorough examination of the testicles will continue to be a mandatory part of the examination.

3. It is also mandatory to examine the conscript’s anal region. It is not entirely clear here whether the law requires only a visual inspection or also a physical examination by the doctor (wearing rubber gloves). I consider the latter to be appropriate for a thorough medical examination.

4. The law also requires an examination of the penis. Until 2011, it was explicitly stipulated that a check for phimosis must be carried out. Consequently, conscripts used to have to retract their foreskin in front of the doctor to expose the glans. Now, the phimosis examination is no longer explicitly required; only an examination of the penis is required. Consequently, some believe that retracting the foreskin is no longer necessary. I consider this to be wrong: How is one supposed to examine the penis of an uncircumcised conscript without retracting the foreskin? The debate is highly emotional in Germany because some conscripts find it humiliating to retract their foreskin in front of a female doctor and a young female assistant. One more detail: in the past, conscripts were usually allowed to retract their own foreskin. In some cases, however, the female doctor took over this task, which sometimes led to the conscript getting an erection.

If themedias were allowed to watch the exam of draftees and take photos, did they show on photos sometimes naked draftees or only in just underwears ? was it possible to recognize them ? for intance on a scale or for the height measure ? did they always shot the draftees by back or also by front ?

Were the draftees informed that thre would be some radios or newspapers or local TV present during their exam to take photos ?

As regards the clerks, it seems according to your relation that they were not present during the examination, ecept one secretary ? so I presume that they answered mainly about admistrative questions ?

was it mainly women who worked at local city hall ? and was it possible that local official reprentatives who were members of the commission were women ?

If it was read or seen by parents , grand parents, and so on , did they made comments to you about the draft process and same at school, was it a subject of talks even between girls classmates ? if the process was well known by every body by reading it on newspapers or seing it on a TV or heard on radio ?

It was only in underwear, sometimes there are posts in local news about such a commission in each city and they also posts photos from the workday of the commission. Sometimes, on those pictures, there were draftees during examination, sometimes in briefs, sometimes fully dressed, sometimes without faces, sometimes it was possible to identify them. So as you can see it was pure freedom in these actions and usually nobody cares about it (personal data, info, humiliation and so on) sometimes there are critical voices, but they are weak. Reffering to draftees consent to being photographed: I don't know, but I suppose that they didn't collect such a thing, I can't imagine them doing this in such a big scale (they would have to ask everybody from 30+ males called up daily). Local city hall clerks are mainly women, more: whole commission squads are usually all-female (doctor+nurse+clerk).

Sometimes there were small talks between girls in class, they were mainly curious what categories did we get.

Reffering to german musterung, I think that we already have quite faithful copy or even pattern how it looked liked in Germany up to 2011 and how it will be in the nearest future. In my country young males also are examined one by one solo by the doctor assisted by also mainly female clerk. You also have to be undresses to your underwear from the begining. I think there was even a law that stated you could ask doctor to perform your exam solo without assisting person but I think nobody ever made use of it because of stress, power differential and not to anger the doctor who had all his future in (usually) her hands. So as you can read, the law prioritized speed of the examination over dignity of draftees. Secretary was needed in the room for the whole exam to write down up to date all defects found by doctor during physical. Nurse was also there to improve the speed of exam and take some of the doctor's burden off her shoulders (blood pressure, measurements, eyesight exam and soon). So the doctor's comfort was also prioritized over intimacy and dignity of draftee. I think they did this to make the work of such a doctor more attractive in times of personnel shortages, they also improved the wages (now doctor working in such commissions, working daily can earn about 2x national averages... for 2-3 hours daily spend on collecting quick medical history, auscultating, doing some other basic tests and stamping the decision about fitness of each male).

We were all in our underwear in the main room and when it came time for the genital exam they would take us into a private room individually and lower our boxers to do the hernia exam, I never got the chance to see anyone naked in line

Thanks for sharing your experience. I am a little surprised that boys of 14 and 16 years old were examined totally nude from the beginning. How long did the whole process last? And how many doctors and staffs are female? Are there any young nurses or clerks around? Still, is this true account not fantasy?

I believed that it was even this year after reading french newspapers.

According to you it is not very different of the former procédure applied in the last years of mandatory conscription for german young men.

They would be examined naked like before one by one by a doctor, mainly women of course like it was before, who would be assisted by a younger woman who could be now just a clerk present to take notes about the exam but watching all of it, not only young nurses as it seemed to be the most frequent situation before but it is logical if that young woman or girl has nothing medical to do !

Even if it would be more embarrassing to be examined stark naked in front of a young clerk who would not be clothed in labcoats like nurses are.

I am sure that the young german boys aged of 18 would feel it more embarrassing.

As regards the exam itself, I agree with you that even if it is not mentioned precisely, the inspection of genitals which is mentioned would include a check of the retractation of the penis to see the glans for boys uncircomcized. It is normally standard part of the exam of genitals for a male teenager to check for phimosis or any other issue so itvus convenient for boys aged of 18.

No matter if the doctor let the young man retract his foreskin himself or if she retracts it herself, it does not change much for the young man and I presume that it would be let to the decision of each woman doctor.

As regards the inspection of the anus area, if it is mentioned without détails, it means also that the doctor is free to decide to perform only a visual inspection by instruction to the young man to turn around, to bend over and spread widely the cheeks of his butt ( unless if like for the festin retractation she prefers to do it herself with her hands ) to let her see inside the crack of the butt on all sides and until anus hole or to add a touch of prostate glan with fingers inserted in the rectum.

Normally at that age a visual inspection is enough to check if there is no marks, rushes and so on ... but if the woman doctor decides by herself to do more, she can do it of course ...

You talk of nurses, I presume that it is for the first part of the exam which is not individual but certainly performed in small groups for the check of the sight, the ears, the pulse, the blood pressure, the urine test and blood test, the height and the weigh in or other measurements like chest, waist and hips and so on ...

It seems not to be different of it was before.

The teenagers would certainly be undressed until underwears for all or part of it under instructions of the nurses.

More embarrassing if they are young, just a little older than the teenagers but logical.

Before I have read that they could be undressed in swim suits if they preferred it but I don't see what différences it made with a colored boxer.

I presume that now it is not mentioned but I doubt that if a male teenager would come and undress into swimsuit, he would be told by a nurse that he must remove it because it is not allowed and stay naked if he has no underwear to put instead of the swimsuit.

I notice that except for the exam in front of the doctor, they would not be exposed undressed into underwears or completely naked to the view of women or girls clerks as it could be in other countries in the past

I hope that we will have some relations of their exams even if we must wait until summer 2027 for that !

You are right about the fact that efficiency and speedness were prevaling on respect of modesty or privacy of draftees in most of the countries which have maintained a military service like in a recent past.

Was it all the day or only on the morning ?. Or it lasted for some more than a morning ?

Where all the boys coming at the same hour in the morning ?

Did they were all instructed to strip immediately or just a group ?

You went naked in one corridor or several ones from a medical station to an other one ?

Once naked were you supervised by men non commissionner officers or women soldiers or by female nurses and possibly female clerks?

I presume that the doctors were mainly women, were they always assisted by a female nurse and a female clerk at each station or just by a nurse ?

As regards the final board to decide of fitness in front of which you might report naked at the end, how much members it had, were the men assisted by secretaries and also female doctors ?

Did you were alone in front of them ? How long did you stayed naked in front of the board ?

Did you were instructed to turn around also to expose to them your rear and naked butt for a visual inspection even if the medical exam was finished ?

Did you notice some différences between the exam at 14 age and that at 16 age ?

You are right about the fact that efficiency and speedness were prevaling on respect of modesty or privacy of draftees in most of the countries which have maintained a military service like in a recent past.

At the begining, we were called by 3 at the same time in the first room where the nurse was. She asked us to undress to oir underwear behind the screen, all 3 of us had to undress together. Then she weighed and measured us and checked our eyesight. Then, (this time alone) we were called in the second room one by one. There was doctor (female) and two secretaries (both female). I had to stand in front of them just in my briefs, barefeet. The doctor asked me a few questions and then she proceeded with quite fast and superficial examination (auscultation, bending over, one sit-up, strolling through the room..) then she asked me to go behind the screen and there I was undressed completely, but just for a quick glance. Then, again I had to stand in front of the commission table and the doctor pronounced my category. Finally I could go back to the first room and dress. Quite humiliating experience, especially while having to stand in just underwear in front of those three ladies. There wasn't any military personnel, so the doctor was ultimate authority figure. I think that there was some kind of stool for the draftee to sit near the commission table, but the doctor must have "annexed" it and put her handbag there 😃
