Why do young people seem to have such little interest in enemas when anal play is increasingly common?

Hi I'm 18 and I really really! Love enemas and anal play, it seems almost no one in my generation cares much for enemas, even though anal play is increasingly popular. Always seemed strange to me.

I suspect that enemas are a product of a generational preference or bias. Most of us more elderly types, likely received enemas when younger, and came to enjoy them, inasmuch as we discovered the anal stimulation enhanced our genital stimulation.

Many of us didn't pass our preferred methods of dealing with digestive issues to our kids and grandkids. While we still engage ourselves, perhaps we still have some deep seated feelings of guilt or hesitation, that carried on to the younger generations.

While anal sex and stimulation may be more common and acceptable, those who enjoy enemas may be substituting them due to a health, medical need, or other fetishistic desire.

We seem to hope that enemas are becoming a more common and acceptable treatment for many things including sexual stimulation. It's great that you youngsters have discovered enemas!

Welcome to Zity. I suspect that there is more enema use among young people than any of us is aware of. But we are talking about quick, utilitarian anal douches as opposed to full-on, gut-busting bag enemas with large volumes of water. I can only speak as a gay man, but douching with a bulb syringe and a few ounces of warm water prior to anal play is very common in my community. That said, the vast majority of guys would tell you that they don't use enemas. Most people see a big difference between an enema and an anal douche, not the least of which are the kind of tools they use to accomplish it and the results they hope to achieve. From my experience, the overwhelming majority of people who use anal douches don't eroticize it or particularly enjoy it. They also don't talk about it casually. But there are lots of them.

I think they are not as usual as they used to be. Especially among kids, which is the time you develop your kinks and fetishes.

They are not that used, apart from medical environments. So I guess the fetish is also not that common in young people. Its not common either in places where enemas were not a "big thing", like the US.

I live in a latin american country and I am 38 years old and people my age have no experiences with enemas. Its not a sexual thing either.

Yeah, I’m with @GraceT it was never a part of my life. I also have a pretty sensitive stomach sometimes so the idea of cramping and having those feelings brings me the opposite of pleasure. I personally have no interest in feces or urine, or diapers.

I can see by the two previous posts that the problem is with the association of enema to BM instead to the intimacy and complicity it requires. Unfortunately it is because of many using it in a BDSM environment as punishment. The healthy component and the pleasurable one are often totally underestimated. I think a lack of interest in enemas for young people is belongs to us rather than a lack of desire.

Most of us developed our desire for enemas thru exposure of some sort, either from receiving an enema as a Child or witnessing or hearing discussion about it. Mine started when I was 5 and I walked in on my 1 year younger female cousin about to receive an enema from her mom. I’m going to disagree and say there are always 18-30 year olds getting into enemas, they just aren’t on zity. When we were in college in the very early 2000s, all our enemates were peers in age. When we joined the scene from ages 25-35 around 2005, nearly every enema play partner was in that age bracket.

As @Clis mentioned, for me the idea is associated with something negative even though I’ve never experienced it. It is a funny thing how your brain makes these associations. I don’t know many young people, and I definitely don’t know what they enjoy sexually, but I can imagine that they have been adversely impacted by the media, and a lack of social interaction, due to dependence on their iPhones and other devices. I don’t think that’s the case with anal in general. I knew plenty of my peers, both girls and boys through my 20s that were interested in the idea to varying degrees. But I think you’re right insofar as anything that has ever been institutionalized or considered traditional at one point or another. I can’t say I’ve ever met anyone IRL who had a thing for enemas or rectal temp or medfet, but plenty of people interested in buttplugs and rimming.

I think it is a combination of things. Enemas were common years ago. They are not now because the medical profession has gotten lazy because they have been seduced by the drug manufacturers that laxatives are better. They are for the drug manufacturers' bottom line ($$$). And medical facilities get more money pushing medicine than giving enemas. And enemas take much more nursing time than popping a pill or suppository into a patient.

And last but not least, kids nowadays have so many things tugging at them that they don't really have time to even stop and think of anything different. Peer pressure, combined with wanting to fit in make them followers of the crowd and the crowd is not into enemas because of lack of exposure to them because of the modern "thinking" listed above.

So, while I don't foresee enemas going away completely any time soon, I do see a gradual reduction in the number of participants.

Enemas have their place, but they’re not the only and best solution. Save it for kink or when needed.

I was born during the Eisenhower administration like so many others here. Back then, at least in my opinion, enemas were not talked about, they were secret. They were kind of shameful, especially if you actually enjoyed them. I cannot imagine going to my mother and saying, “please mom, would you shoot water up my butt?”.

These days there seems to be little to no sense of secrecy among the younger generations, they talk about themselves and their interests incessantly.

I have to take issue with you about big pharma and drugs being safe and sometimes effective in covering what ails you but does it ever cure anything permanently? . All one has to do is read the possible side effects of the various medicines being prescribed. They can be summed up with a simple statement, "Take this shit and it might cause unrepairable damage, unbearable pain or even kill you." I will stick with enemas for almost anything that comes up as I have done all my life. Same with my parents and grandparents with all of us in excellent health.....whoops correction to that....I had to have a filling in a tooth last year.

There’s so much confusion about what constitutes reality these days, that young people may not be aware that the anus can stimulate sexual excitement.
