Mandatory Urethral Swab

I have seen a lot of posts here about having a urethral swab of the penis to test for chlamydia in men. I was wondering, has anyone recieved such a swab preventatively without complaining of genital issues? Like for a pre employment, immigration, etc... exam

Never had it. But I do know for sure that in Russia/CIS countries it is mandatory at pre-employment and routine work medicals.

I'm originally from Eastern Europe. Mainly googled ru-net in regards to my med-fet curiosities. Plenty to find and see if you're into the topic. Forums, chats, blogs wit people's experiences, official docs, forms etc...

I get it when I go for my STD tests. Swab of mouth rectum and penis. PA does it in a cubical along with blood tests

@btmee ok but are those std tests part of an employment physical, for example?

I have had this happen, once which I remember, it was when I was probably in college. It was just part of a routine annual physical exam, not really sure why it happened that time, and not other times. It may have been that this was in the era of greater awareness of STDs, in the late-80's to early-90's. Interestingly, I didn't into this sort of thing as a fetish until many years later. Later, I became much more interested in urethral-play, and I've posted pics in my albums, and other places, on this site of the sounds, and other implements, I've inserted into my urethra. But, it didn't really come to me as a fetish until much later, after that exam.

I have never had this done even when I have asked to be tested for STDs I always heard they would swab your urethra but they always took blood to test instead. I wonder why it has never happened.

I have read that the swab is a little more accurate. If you want to experience it, i suppose you can say that there is pain in the urethra to make the check more focused? Or that you are scared of needles😂

Thankfully I was never subjected to this humiliating test. I can only imagine his I would be embarrassed if I was.

I have never had that happen. I have done my best to be regularly tested, since I am a sexually active gay male. I'm on PrEp and my doctor requires blood testing every 3 months. Most of those tests can be done thru blood or urine tests, is what my doctor explained to me.

Had one done when I married my late wife. Apparently it was a requirement in British Columbia for testing for VD before a marriage certificate could be issued. This was back in the late 90's.

I know it is no longer required here.

Yes, I remember the first time I went to student health at a large university in the late 70s and at the first appointment when I had a sore throat the nurse practitioner wanted an STD test even though I said I wasn't sexually active at that time. She said they wanted to get a baseline test on every new student so I reluctantly agreed after she prescribed something for my throat. I went out to the check out area and this girl Maura that I knew was working there and she said hi and said I will set up a follow up in two weeks and she said I see you got the "pipe cleaner" and smiled at me. I said unfortunately and she said she had been asked to chaperone a few and they looked really painful for guys. I later transferred to a smaller private college and the doctor there did a urethral swab as well that was still like a pipe cleaner because I was having testicular pain but was not sexually active but had to rule out an STD.

Have received this test twice, but I had to ask for it. I believe most of the time they now just do a urine test for chlamydia...

@Badgy1 Wow! And how was her context? Were you able to disagree to it? Do you remember if any of your classmates told you about having it too?

I have read other posts too about guys having a penile swab at the campus clinic😃

@ekgbob20 I don't know what you mean by context? I had to have a genital exam and swab for STDs before my insurance would authorize a testicular ultrasound, and the female doctor wanted a chaperone. I really did not feel like I could refuse nor did I know I could have refused and gone to my pediatrician. I do recall other students sharing their experiences as well but at my previous large college.

I meant if you could refuse the first time, when she said that they wanted a baseline for every student. Sounds very peculiar (but also hot) to me.

Did other students have it also without std concerns?

I have never undergone a urethral swab and would likely demand a very good explanation as to need and why other options would not be satisfactory before undergoing the procedure. I believe I would much prefer submitting to sounding or even cystoscopy before having a urethral swab. A swab in my penis does not sound pleasant or interesting on any level. I am curious if the swab is lubricated or if it goes in dry to obtain the sample?

I think submitting to these procedures on a mandatory basis would be unwarranted unless there is a public health risk. If a patient refuses to to submit then a court order would need to be issued. It is a painful and intrusive procedure although not being tested for STD/STI if you have symptoms or had unprotected sex with a person you suspect has a STD/STI is an unwise choice.

It happened to me during my college years. I had unprotected sex with a young woman who was known as the campus bicycle (everyone gets a ride). I later found out through a mutual friend she had contracted a STD. I went to University Health Services and got tested. Oral, urethral and blood samples were taken. All results were negative

I became sexually active in the late '80's. There was lots going on as far as sti's were concerned.

My first adult physical exam, with a doctor that I chose and I made the appointment with (myself) was in the early '90's a few years after college graduation. I remember it was a Friday in the early spring and I was so nervous going the appointment. My new Doctor was gay and in his late 30's early 40's. He was super nice and very aware of what was going on in the community as far as std's.

I had to strip to "underpants" and he conducted a thorough physical exam. Way more thorough than the pediatrician and more thorough than the doc I saw while in college.

When it came time to examine my groin and genitals, I was laying on the table, he asked me to slide my underpants down to my knees. He touched everything and carefully looked at everything. I was mortified. Then he stepped away from the table, opened the drawer and took out a cellophane wrapped something. He opened the packaging and he was holing a tube. Then he pulled something out of the tube and I honestly didn't know what it was. He then said, "I'm going to do a urethral swab today, This will be uncomfortable but it won't hurt". And with that he grabbed my (very shrunken) penis, pulled it out straight (it didn't go very far), squeezed the tip and slid the swab in. After he slid the swab in he spun it around then pulled it out. The pulling out part was worse than when it went in. It felt like a bristle brush in there. I wanted to scratch but there was nothing to scratch. He smiled at me and said "I know that was uncomfortable but it's better to check for problems before it gets out of hand". It was a humbling experience.

I remember those swabs were done for a few more years at my yearly physical but then the screening changed.

The swab goes in dry. My legs jumped from the table. The doc said "yes, I know"

It was pretty standard at my GUM clinic check ups. Now the only swabs are the throat and rectal ones. There was even the dreaded plastic thing with the tiny circle on the end the doctor used to stick up my urethra. Now it's just pee in the cup.

What's the plastic thing with the tiny circle?

No idea what it's called. It was red and thin, a rigid plastic thing with a tiny loop at the end. The doctor used to insert it into my urethra and twist it. Far more uncomfortable than an ordinary swab.
