I have to admit that this post may be a bit of a surprise, but I have been thinking for days about a thermometer that was described on an internet blog that no longer exists yet.
Throughout my life I have searched for all kinds of thermometers, whether digital or mercury.
This has given me some knowledge of brands, models, types of bulbs that thermometers have and other paraphernalia that some do not analyze when they buy a thermometer.
But there is a thermometer that I read about on a blog by a guy who was around twenty during the 2010s, his blog stopped existing in 2016, it was a blog by a young man who grew up in the 90s and 2000s.
I have to say something... This user did not have any medical fetish (And if he did, he never said so)
In fact his content was quite Geek and Nerd (that's why I followed his blog)
In one post he talked about how in high school, he tried to skip a Friday, but this was difficult for him due to his problematic mother, which he had already talked about in several blog posts.
The guy said that the mother took his rectal temperature with a digital thermometer, he emphasized that said thermometer had two buttons, and once his mother finished taking the measurement she pressed the button and the thermometer went down 0.5 degrees.
In some European countries, 0.5 degrees Celsius is usually subtracted from the rectal temperature.
This caught my attention, I have never seen a thermometer with this option. It is true that there are thermometers with more than one button, either to change from Celsius to Fahrenheit or to change modes, like the WelchAlly thermometers. At 25 years old and in the more than 6 years that I have been collecting thermometers, I have not yet found this thermometer.
This post hopes to talk about rare thermometers and to find out if anyone knows the thermometer I am talking about.
That is the weirder thermomether than you know ?
