Douch scene - Netflix Movie Vera Drake

In the Netflix Movie "Vera Drake" there is a scene about 24 minutes into the movie where Vera induces an abortion by administering a hot-soapy solution, via a Higgsion squeeze-bulb. No nudity, but we do see a brief close up of the syringe, of Vera preparing the solution (grating some pink carbonic bar-soap into a bowl, adding hot water, a splash of liquid disinfectant), and of Vera squeezing Higgsion's bulb .

It was not a douche per se, but injected into the uterus rather than the vagina, causing the abortion. I'm seeing that the filmmaker deliberately opted to be vague about the solution other than carbolic soap, but that midwifes objected to what was shown, because it would most probably be fatal.

The "Fatality" issue is a thing. I did read once, back in my teens, about a woman who tried to induce an abortion by forcing hydrogen peroxide up into her uterus. The oxygen absorbed into her bloodstream, and a big enough bubble got to her heart, which killed her.
