Did ladies who modeled for lingerie or swimwear catalogs know or suspect what their pictures were often used for?

And how does / did that knowledge make them feel? Is it something that they even give any thought to? Are there any ladies here who have done professional modeling of beachwear or intimate apparel? What's your personal take on this?
