Cheeks separated or not?

What always amazed me was how my mom could insert the thermometer into me without separating my bottom. I would be lying down on my tummy with my pants and the underwear pulled down, head turned to the left waiting while she prepared the thermometer. I could feel the bed go up and down as she snapped down the thermometer while sitting next to me. After that I would hear the lid of the large round jar of Vaseline being opened. At that point I was totally focused on my bottom. Then she would slip the lubed up thermometer deftly into my rectum , never having had to separate my bottom. Some how she always found the target. The few times my father took my rectal temp, he would use the thumb and forefinger technique to visualize the target, but not my mom. How about your experiences?

Always spread by the doctor or nurse. The anticipation of it always made me nervous!

Part of me thinks that was because of your age. Your body was small enough, the target was easier to hit!

I’ve always preferred to have it done slowly, like I knew it was occurring and I was “helpless” to protest (like who would?). So spread with a finger of lube entering the rosebud before it was slipped in and then held firmly in place until the time was sufficient.

I never received any while growing up, but had them daily while I was with my ex!

Mom, all my older sisters, all the nurses at the clinics, several of mom's neighbor lady friends, and all my older sister's friends always took my temperature in my bottom. For this, I was undressed to my underwear shorts and laying on my tummy my arms at my side. I was told to lay still and look at the paintings or pictures on the wall. My underwear was then lowered to my knees. After this, the glass rectal thermometer's silver pear-shaped bulb and glass-rod was prepped with Vaseline. Sometimes I turned my head and see this. The nurse's that took my temperature at the clinics would tell me to turn my head the other direction. My older sister's friends didn't notice or say anything.

While on my tummy, I would then hear them walking towards the examination table or bed where I was laying. I was told to lay still and not move until the temperature check is done. I would then feel a hand laying across my bottom cheeks. Then a thumb and finger were slid between them as they were spread apart. The glass rectal thermometer was then slid into my bottom. The thumb and a finger are then slid out from spreading my bottom cheeks apart. The five-minute countdown begins.

Their fingers of one hand continue holding the glass rectal thermometer in my bottom. The other hand is then placed at my lower back area or on my bottom cheeks area. The glass rectal thermometer is twirled by the temperature taker several times to ensure an accurate reading.

After five-minutes, a hand is placed across my bottom cheeks. The thumb and a finger are then slid between them as they are spread apart. The glass rectal thermometer is now slid out of my bottom. After this, the thumb and finger are slid out from spreading my bottom cheeks apart. The glass rectal thermometer's temperature reading is noted. The glass rectal thermometer is then placed on a tissue at a safe area where it can be cleaned later.

After this, a hand is again laying across my bottom cheeks. The thumb and a finger then slide between them as they are spread apart. A tissue is then used to clean the excess Vaseline from my bottom area. Once cleaned, the thumb and a finger are slid out from spreading my bottom cheeks apart. After this, I am told that my temperature check is done. My underwear is then slid back up my legs, over my bottom cheeks and onto my waist. I am then told I can get up and sit on the examination table if I am at one of the clinic's or sit on the edge of my bed if I am at home.

I was a chubby kid and when my Mom took my rectal temperature with me laying on my left side in bed with my legs pulled up to my chest she would pull up on my right buttock to spread my cheeks before inserting the thermometer about 3/4 of the way into my rectum with just enough sticking out for her to hold onto.

Having my cheeks spread and then getting my bottom lubed to take the thermometer gives me butterflies knowing what's coming next, the glass thermometer being slowly pushed into my bottom.

Some bottoms have a slight natural gap in the intergluteal region (butt crack) known as the “anal triangle” that clearly indicates the location of the anus without spreading the glutes. It’s anatomy I’ve noticed as an artist. It would definitely be a bullseye for a rectal thermometer.

My temp was always taken at a clinic, and never at home. I believe most nurses simply pulled one cheek to the side with the side of their hand that also held the thermometer. I doubt it ever required a two handed approach by such pros.

While I have not even been given a rectal temp from someone I will say having my cheeks spread feels amazing it's like a cool breeze on my bootyhole hehe. So I could understand why it would feel amazing being spread for a rectal temp.

I prefer to have my temperature taken rectally ( by a glass mercury thermometer)as I lay bare bottomed, on an exam table or on my bed, my white cotton briefs having been taken down to about mid thigh ; and I certainly appreciate the feel of a woman’s delicate yet powerful thumb and index fingers , one on each buttock pushing them apart, exposing my anal orifice aka “ starfish” and I’ve always thrilled as that thermometer was being slowly, deftly inserted making entry into me via my anal opening and into my rectum.

Her fingers briefly hold the cheeks apart after having inserted the thermometer so she can see where the mercury has risen to!

When I think back to childhood and teenage years my b cheeks were mostly separated when a thermometer had to be pushed in.

- When my mom took my temperature, she told me lying on my side with slightly flexed upper leg. So she lifted my upper lying cheek before insertion of the thermometer, but while removing she didn't separated them again.

- When my dad took my temp I was lying in prone position and he separated my left cheek widely with his thumb before insertion. He also separated my cheeks for the mid-time check as well as when he pulled the thermometer out at the end. But he didn't spread my bum when he took my temperature in the so called diaper change position

- At the pediatricians when one of the nurses or the doctor himself took my temperature they opened my bum with two fingers, what felt strange because of the touching air at my bumhole

- In hospital it was a mixture of all techniques, and rarely my cheeks weren't separated.

When I compare to the situation of my bro his cheeks were seldomly spread. I had the opinion that this depends on the bum cheek shape, because my brother never had a bubble but like me, so probably his bum hole was easier to see and the thermometer was easier to appeal to my brothers receiving hole

Enyway, being a skinny kid back then, my butthole it always appeared very easily whenever I had my legs slightly apart or I had to bent over just a bit...

Usually my mom's hand was useful much more just to secure my position than to spread my cheeks ...

With my partners, it has varied. Some times the bottom is evident, other times I've spread the hiney cheeks. Depends on the girl getting it in the bottom.

My mom never took my rectal temp but I do recall the pediatrician separating my cheeks for temps and suppositories. I recently did have my rectal temperature taken in the ER when I had covid because of the violent coughing and wearing a mask both made it impossible for an oral. It was nothing like when I was a kid, I was asked to lie on my side and the nurse did separate my cheeks but also kept them separated until the thermometer was done. About 15 seconds or so. I felt very hyperaware of the insertion and the lubricant. I guess things change when youre an adult. That felt embarrassing if you ask me. My temp was 102.8....

I'm not sure VA, some people just seem to know how to find that bullseye. I've been told you just have to center it with the anal hair, but I'm sure you didn't have any at that time in your life.

I always make sure to separate my girlfriends cheeks. I like seeing her clench and release in anticipation. If she’s been naughty, I make her hold her cheeks apart for me.

At my pediatrician office the young nurse would spread my cheeks lube up my anus finger my hole and insert the glass thermometer into my backside and pinch close my cheeks. She would keep them closed with her hand on my cheeks. Then when she removed it she would pry open my cheeks look inside and twist the termometer out. My penis would grow.

From time to time, I also got suppositories, which happened in the prone position, and one butt cheek was stretched to the side.

But I love it when the doctor uses his thumb and forefinger to spread my buttocks and expose my anus when taking my temp for a fantasy exam. I feel so vulnerable with my anus exposed like that.

My temp was taken with me laying flat on my stomach on my bed. Mom would pull one cheek to the side all way, visualize my opening, and let it close around the thermometer once it was in.

I had my rectal temperature measured in the rectum until I was about 2 years old, so I don't remember it. But when giving enemas and inserting suppositories, my mother always spread my buttocks wide open first. It felt weird being exposed like that. I knew that in a moment my anus would be rubbed with lubricant. Then I will feel the tip of the bulb (enema) or my mother's little finger in the glove (suppository).

I don't remember one method predominating over another, but my last rectal temp in a medical setting was definitely not spread. I was in the 10 to 12 range in the hospital and the nurse flipped me up on my side and inserted the thermometer into my rectum in one fluid motion. I was on my side with the thermometer up against my prostate and her hand resting against my butt before I could squeak out a "what?".

Have some fond memories of having my rectal temperature taken as an adult.

My recollection is that the majority of times my cheeks were spread. A few I remember quite vividly! Those thumbs and index fingers of the females spreading my cheeks was awesome!!
