How many of you have had your rectal temperature taken regularly?

How many of you have had your rectal temperature taken regularly? I mean, for example, every day or every week. How did this work and why was it done regularly? Could it be that the person who took the temperature in the buttom liked it?

Mom obsessively took our rectal temperatures. There were probably a few reasons for it, but it's not going to change anything about the past. Morning rectal temps were something that my sister and I got used to. Having our rectal temps taken whenever mom felt we were "Out of sorts", was also a routine that we never questioned. Trips to the Pediatrician, where rectal temps were a guarantee until we turned 13, were also seen a routine. Were we sexually abused by her, or anyone else? No. Did it leave us both with a fetish for rectal thermometers and temperature taking?

Growing up, I had a thermometer in my bottom every morning and after dinner. My mom was always worried that I would catch a bug. At that time, rectal temps were the standard either at home or the Doctor's so I thought it was part of everyday life. All of my friends got pretty much the same.

I had mine taken daily, always morning and then sometimes just sporadically during the day from my ex boyfriend.

In the past my parents had many reasons why my tenp was checked , when e.g. I looked pale, when I had no appetite, when I had a red face/ red cheeks. First my forehead was touched, but it most times ended up with a thermometer up my bum.

When I was a child/teen and I was ill, my parents took my temperature 4 times a day as long as I had symptoms and even a couple of days thereupon.

In hospital they only took my temp 3 times a day
