Buzzwords

Anyone have buzz words that get you ready for a rectal temp? "Over on your tummy. This goes in your bottom.". " I'm going to take your temperature. I think I'm going to do it in your hiney. ". " Temperature time. Bottoms up."

“I’m sorry, but I need to use the baby thermometer.”

I think I have a fever….can you check it for me please!?! 😉

I don’t wait for his (my husband) answer….I just pull down my pants and lay down on the bed or over his lap!

@hilenk I don’t like to call it the “baby thermometer” or the “baby way”…..rectal temperatures are for and can be used on all ages! My doctor doesn’t “force” her patients to use the rectal route but she also doesn’t discourage that way either! If that is your preference then so be it….she says Rectal is BEST! But it’s a personal preference…..if you choose rectal; great! If you choose another route; fine!

Just remember…..rectal temperatures are not JUST for babies or young children….Anyone @ any age can use the rectal route for temperature taking!

@Luvbottomtemps, I agree with you: rectal temperatures are accurate for any age, and have the added benefit of being fun for many of us, in part by creating a few minutes of exquisite intimacy between partners. Coercion and use of RTs for punishment are definitely turn-offs for me.

Having said that, we can’t deny that RTs are invasive, and that many people thus find them embarrassing. When I grew up, most children that I knew preferred to switch to oral temperatures as soon as they were old enough to be able to hold a thermometer under their tongue. So, at least in non-emergency use, rectal temps tended to have a stigma of being for "babies".

In that context, for me, there is something deliciously erotic about a scenario where a woman decides that she has to take my temperature rectally in order to get an accurate reading. Referring to the “baby” thermometer adds an extra layer of piquancy to the embarrassment. It is not coercion, but rather leads to a voluntary submission to my caregiver’s decision and the unexpected intimacy that follows. 😊

Temperature time is one for sure for me. Also being told to turn over.

I visited a pro dome not long ago. She had me set on her lap. She patted my bottom and said, " I'm going to take your temperature and I think I'm going to take it right here in your little hiney.". Major turn on.

I've only ever had it that way in play exams, never in real life, but "I'm just going to take your temperature. Can you lie down on your tummy and roll your boxers down for me, I need to take it in your bottom" gets me excited on the other side.

"You look a bit pale, I think we should check your temperature. Please come here, pull down your pants and lay down over my lap". Would be a major turn on today!

“Hop up here on the exam table and let’s check your temperature!” Then holds up the thermometer and says; “it needs to go in your bottom this time!” 😊

Often, once my blood pressure was checked, the nurse would tell me to "turn onto your tummy for me so we can take your temperature" or as I got older she would often ask my mom "preference on how you'd like his temperature taken" and then it was also onto my tummy.

Her words as she had me on the exam table, pointing to the thermometers in their respective containers , both labeled. “You want your temperature taken, orally or rectally?”

Guess what my answer was.

Thank you nothing better than shaking the thermometer down and than telling the patient to please bend over the table and spread your legs.

My fantasy is to have an attractive woman tell me that she feels feverish, and then I respond by telling her that I only have a rectal thermometer, and that I promise to be gentle taking it in her butt. I’ve tried that before, and my offer was rejected twice. One girlfriend said that she hated when she had her temperature taken rectally in the psych ward, and the other one said that only babies and young children had their temperature taken rectally.

I can still remember many of the buzzwords and phrases used when I was sick at home or getting medical care at the doctor or hospital. Whenever I was about to get my rectal temperature taken, I would be told to "lie down so I can take your temperature". When the rectal thermometer was shook down and dipped in vaseline, I was always told "roll over on your belly". I would feel my underwear waistband slide over my rear end as it was being pulled down. Next was "now just relax" as I felt the cool sensation of the thermometer as it was inserted in my rear end. "Hold still like a good little boy". "Just a few minutes", You're doing good", "Almost done" are many of the phrases I associate with having my rectal temperature taken. and when it was over, I would feel the rectal thermometer as it was being slid out of my rear end and remember hearing,"That wasn't so bad", "You're such a good boy", "The doctor will be right in", "you have a temperature".
