How do you insert a rectal suppository?

Do you use a rectal suppository applicator or your finger?

Does someone insert the suppository for you or do you insert it yourself?

I usually insert them myself just using my finger and then immediately insert a thermometer 🌡️ until it melts good….usually about 20/30 minutes.

Sometimes my husband will insert it for me if I’m sick or just not in the mood to do it myself….lol! It’s also kind of weird putting my own finger in my bottom.

I only ever use my finger for it and unfortunately, no one I know would be willing to do it for me.

I use my finger. I like to keep the suppositories in the freezer so they don't melt. Then I just lubricate the end with Vaseline before pushing it up there with my finger. But I much more prefer inserting suppositories in other men's asses.

Should there be anyone near me who wants/needs suppositories, or anything else up your bum.....im pretty good at it.

I would rather not have to cross the ocean to receive one. Could you describe your insertion method?

Just using my finger

1) some times I lube suppository and anus before insertion, especially if suffering from hemoroids

2) trying to insert it blunt side in

3) best insertion while lying on bed on my side, but it happened that when having severe hemoroids did insertion in public toilet, where it has own sink for privacy washing hands

Sometimes i take a vomex a suppository as a sleep aid!

Further to my earlier post - when inserting I like to push the suppository in just far enough that I can still see the end. Then with cheecks spread I wait and wait and watch as my Wife's anus grips the suppository and the muscles slowly pulls the suppository in on its own. She's a good girl and knows this is how I like to insert her suppositories. She says that the natural urge is to push it back out - but she concentrates and continues to clench to make the suppository slip up inside. I know from my own experiences the feeling of it being swallowed, the exquisite feeling of it sliding past the sphincter and deeper into the rectum of its own accord is absolute bliss

A home health nurse who took care of me 40 years ago used what she called a 3-step method in administering a suppository. She said to use a surgical glove or finger cot to administer a suppository.

1 — Lube the tip of the suppository and hold it gently against the anus. Doing this, the opening should relax a little.

2 — With a gentle but steady thrust, push the suppository into the rectum with most of the length of your first finger and position the medication against the rectal wall. If stool is present in the rectum, give a small bulb enema before administering the medication.

3 — Hold the suppository in and count slowly to 3 before gently withdrawing your finger. Wipe with a tissue and keep the patient quiet for at least 20 to 30 minutes while the suppository melts.

The suppositories that she gave me were painless, and I hardly felt them going in. She did hold her finger inside me for what seemed like longer than three seconds.

I used this method with my husband and daughters through the years, and except for some reluctance and a little embarrassment here and there, it always worked. When daughter was throwing up half the night and can’t keep anything down, she didn’t argue when I told her that she needed for me to give her a Phenergan suppository.

I use my finger, push with my index finger deeply, wait a few minutes for it to start melting and remove my finger. Then I lie there waiting for the suppository to work.

Usually self-administered, definitely by finger. My ass lips, rectum and finger all like the way it feels, much better than a plastic tube with a plunger. I know where it is, can place it precisely, and hold it in position as it begins to melt. If I am in the mood, which I usually am since I don't have a medical need for the medication, a little prostate massage may be on the agenda as well. After all, I'm already so close.

I use my finger butt would prefer someone else do it as my fingers are only so long. Besides, it feels better if somebody else's finger is in there wiggling around😀

My wife inserts it with her finger as deep as it will go and I do the same to her
