What natural methods do you use when constipated

I’m am pretty backed up but suppositories don’t usually work for me and enemas just make me cramp!

I’m thinking of using a special rectal syringe or a baby nose sucker bulb and injecting/squirting just some plain warm water into my rectum/bottom!

Has anyone tried this and was it successful!

Side note….I used the rectal thermometer and inserted it doing the “baby trick” where you kind of tease the thermometer in and out and twist a little to get some poop action…it’s not really working this time!

I use a bulb with some warm water to clean the rectum before anal sex. If I'm constipated, I need more than one bulb. Thermometer also had no effect for me. Have you tried putting more than one suppository?

Cutting a piece of soap and putting it on as a suppository works great. After 10 minutes you will have pooped!

@Anne20 yes I have tried using 2 suppositories….still didn’t work!

I was told by my Dr to use 2 glycerin suppositories, wait an hr and if nothing happens I need to do an enema but like I said…..those just make me feel bloated and cramp! I don’t like them!

What 'works' for me when I am bound up is 1) Natural Vitality 'Calm' - In water it makes magnesium citrate and eases things along. 2) Castor oil - a tablespoon to start (If you don't get 'good' relief - You can 'work' your way up to 3 tbs) - Eat very light for a few days - Rice, vegetables, soups. 3) You can follow up with a good enema series - With 1000 to 1500ml enemas made somewhat isotonic with a tablespoon to a tablespoon and a half of baking soda...

4)The most 'Controversial' one is a 750ml bottle of Manischewitz American Concord Grape Wine - in a enema bag or bucket - With a teaspoon full up to a tablespoon full of baking soda (Yes, it will fizz...) - It is very urgent and cramping, but will clean you out like 'Liquid Dynamite'. I have done this when I was very constipated...You simply fill, retain, and when the urge is strong...GO!

Pretty regular, but if I feel the need, tomato juice for some reason goes through me like draino. Couple of Bloody Mary’s and I’m a happy camper!

Personally I never found anything that fixed my constipation issues, which happened when I was pregnant - both times. Enemas were the only way to clean out my pipes.

Agree with Anne20 - soap suppository, especially if it's glycerin based will work like magic. Just insert and.....wait. Retain for as long as possible before (inevitably) having to "go"

How about eating healthy. Good fiber, fluids, easy on heavy foods that constipate you. Natural Preventive approach, avoid getting constipated.

I learned that when I didn't poop during the day, if at night I soap my finger a lot at bath time and insert it deep into my ass, moving my finger, in a few minutes I will poop.

For years I had constipation. I'd go up to 6 days or more between. There were times when absolutely nothing was moving. Enema nozzles or suppositories just couldn't be forced in. My dear wife would slowly insert a well lubed finger or two and spread lube around the huge lump just inside as I lay on my side, knees drawn up. At the same time I'd strain and push out as hard as I could. This stimulation and "digging" always seemed to promote the needed movement and slow exit out onto a towel. I know she detested the feeling and sight of her fingers getting so dirty but she "pressed on" knowing how much I appreciated and needed her help. She always had a wry? rueful? smile as she scrubbed her hands and fingers while I cleaned up and sat on the toilet beside her. We've corrected my diet enough now to avoid me getting THAT backed up, but honestly I fondly recall those times.

For me an enema is the only way. supositories just dont work for me. laxatives are too harsh. If I wake up and its just stuck, three or four 8 OZ bulbs full of warm water injected standing at the sink will give me instant relief with no side effects, then I can go on with my day. If I just have a so so bowl movement then a couple two quart enemas in the evening is called for. First a slow very warm J&J enema followed in about 20 minutes by a cooler rinse with plain water, and hopefully a happy ending!

So how'd you get on? What did you end up doing to relieve your constipation? Hope all went well...?

If I'm constipated my first choice is a glass of prune juice followed by a bowl of All Bran. If that does not work and in most cases it will, the next morning will be enema time.

I really don't have this problem, fortunately. I did once after a surgery and fortunately a stool softener worked fine. Otherwise, though, I've found that just eating certain foods can speed things up (e.g. Taco Bell).
