Enemas ordered by a real doctor?

I’m now 76 years old and have had numerous “doctor prescribed” enemas over the years — Mostly prior to having various things done like cystoscopies, prostate procedures, etc. On December 4, I have to take two saline Fleet enemas in the hours before reporting for outpatient surgery for the removal of an annoying pilonidal cyst. I had another pilonidal cyst removed when I was 16 in 1964. For that, I was hospitalized for three days.

Every time I have been hospitalized for surgery I always get an enema ordered by a doctor. It's usually not that hard, once they learn that you won't object to the procedure. In our state all enemas must be ordered by a doctor. Most people want to run from getting an enema or don't even know what one is. If you are candid about your personal use they will usually order a soapsuds enema. The next issue will be finding a nurse who knows how to administer it. I have had a situation where it was ordered and my nurse tried to talk me into a Dulcolax suppository, and then showed up with a boxed fleet. When I said I didn't want the Fleet, she had her boss give me the bucket enema. Maybe she didn't know how to do it. Her boss did an excellent job, so I wasn't disappointed, and I was discharged without being constipated.

As a child of the 50's I had a number of enemas ordered by our pediatrician. I still have a couple of the treatment slips where he said "keep his bowels open." I also got a whole series of soapsuds enemas prescribed by our doctor when I caught pinworms.

Not that my mother even needed a doctor to tell her to administer an enema. Sometimes she would say out of the blue "I think you could use a good cleanout. And that was that!

A female friend of mine went to the ER about a month ago after being very constipated for a couple of weeks. She didn't give me much detail and I didn't want to pry but she did mention that she was given an enema(s). She has had some serious intestinal problems in the past and maybe that fact was taken into account by the doctors?

Unfortunately after two weeks I still had the worms, so another course of treatment was ordered with no enemas. I was, I believe, somewhat relieved but no doubt hooked for life on enemas.

The same thing happened to me and my siblings one summer at grandmas. I was ten or eleven that year, it was summertime, and we were at our grandmothers for our usual six weeks. I don’t recall which one of us initially contracted pinworms or how they were discovered, but being grandma was a retired RN. I strongly suspect, either she or our aunts noticed them while giving one of us an enema. It was most likely, one of the girls, because they were primarily responsible for our evening bath included enemas and the occasionally spanking. The first I knew something was up, was when the doctor made a house call and checked the three of us including our two teenage aunts. Pinworms were confirmed and for the next two weeks, the five of us received daily enemas. The two girls giving my siblings and I enemas, then giving each other enemas. I don’t recall if grandma had the girl's put medication in our enemas or not, nor do I recall taking any medication. What I do vividly remember, is a soapy followed by a rinse enema for two weeks, along with my behind being a bit on the sore side. Plus, all our bed linen having to be changed and washed daily.

One thing I almost forgot about, at the end of our two weeks of daily soapy followed by a rinse enema due to pinworms. Once we finished the treatment, we all had to be rechecked. So, grandma used the opportunity to take care of two things at once. First, as she rechecking each of us for pinworms, she administered a 3H enema. Normally, grandma only gave my siblings and I 3H enemas during the summer. However, that year the girls were included because of the pinworms. Unfortunately, we all still had to follow grandmas normal 3H enema routine. Which meant, an additional week of daily rinse enemas at evening bath time.

Growing up our doctor ordered soapsuds enemas when we were constipated or home sick. I know that around 9years old it seemed like the bag was filled to the top. Enemas stopped around age 12 but I did get 2 when I was 14 before a doctors appointment with a GI doctor. Again at age 17 I got some before my second barium enema and 2 the day after.

When I was ten or eleven, I had a very bad cold and was given strong antibiotics which caused a chronic diarrhea. The doctor told my mom to give me potato starch enemas. So each morning for several weeks I would wake up have a loose or very soft stool and mom would bring a small white saucepan full of the warm starch liquid for my enema. I hated not being allowed to expel it. Mom said that it was medicine but I wanted to take my medicine by mouth. I had to lie down on my bed on my left side knees bent . My vulnerable anus was this open to the invasion of the short white nozzle connected to a white bulb syringe wanted to close my anus to prevent the nozzle from entering but the Vaseline made it slippery inside and mom slowly inserted the nozzle and started squeezing the bulb. I would feel the warm, thick liquid flowing through my anus into the rectum.Once the nozzle entered, I knew that any resistance was futile and mom and the enema won. When I would refuse the enema, I would not get breakfast until I accepted it. I felt violated each time the nozzle entered delivering the hated enema but I started feeling a pleasant sensation inside my anus as the nozzle moved a little and the tip touched a spot that caused me to have an erection. After the enema was inside, and mom left, I would masturbate to cum. If I had been allowed to expel it, it would not have caused me any special impression but I had to retain it when I wanted to expel it. I didn't understand why something that I so hated caused such a pleasant sensation inside. The following year, I started giving myself enemas to try to recreate the feelings I had during the daily morning enemas which were given for several weeks.

I had issues with encopresis and constipation, beginning in early grade school. I was given 'enemas as needed' throughout childhood and up into my teens, per pediatrician's orders.
