Extra / random people around during your exam

Who all has dealt with this, whether they were medical students shadowing the doctor, chaperones, administrative staff, coaches, teachers, friends, classmates, other patients, parents and family of other students / patients / enlistees, friends, passerby in the hallway or corridor, or anything like that?

What all happened?

My mother always was in the exam room with me until 17, and then it was dad's turn to come in with me.

My neighbor my age went to the same pediatrician as I did and we thought it would be fun if we did a physical exam together, so we got our moms to arrange that. Our moms seemed more than happy to oblige so my friend and I were examined with both of our moms watching. It was fun!

I had another physical exam with a different friend and his father was in the exam room with us.

My grandpa watched me get some physicals when he took me to see his doctor because of a bad back. I was in my 20s and I don't think his doctor got to examine young guys my age because every time I went to see him he ended up giving me a complete head to toe physical exam.

As an adult there was one time that the doctor had a med student shadowing him and he asked if it was ok for her to be in the exam room and I said "yes".

One of the weirder ones for me was I went to gastroenterologist. She asked if a student could be in the room. I was like sure. She did the exam (which included a rectal exam since I was their for hemorrhoids). Afterwards I got dressed and the doctor stepped out and it was awkward silence, so I asked the dude how his residency was going and he was like "Oh, I'm not in med school. I'm studying economics . . . but I might change." That was kind of a shock.

Over a year ago I got some bad poison ivy, and called and begged the dermatologist to get me in, which they managed to do. The nurse had a shadow that day, and to my surprise was like "go ahead and strip to your underwear and put on the gown." I did so but then when the doctor came in he also had a student with him so there were four people for this one exam . . . and of course eventually I had to remove the gown and stand in front of everyone in my underwear . . . one of those love / hate moments.

Otherwise, have had plenty of students in exams, but those were the most memorable.

At my youth exam was my father present in room.

A few years later I was at the doctor because a cold, there was a medical student present.

Until I was 13, when I went to the doctors I would be examined stripped to my underpants with one if my parents and my big brother in the room with me.

At school I had plenty of memorable exams with fellow male classmates in with me, all stripped down to our boxers.

it might have been funny to be examined head to toes by a doctor in front of a grandpa; I presume that the doctor was rather old ?

With the two mothers how old you were and your friend ?

The first transvaginal ultrasound I ever had, a custodian walked in. He left pretty quick, but he should not have entered at all.

I went to the hospital administration office right away. That kind of thing is completely unacceptable.

Yes I'm pleased we weren't totally naked, though I wonder how I would have felt if the girls who saw us in the corridor in our boxers had seen us with our bits on display! 🙂
