How many enemas and suppositories are happening right now?

Bizarrely, I agree, I'm prone sometimes when I see a blue Ford F-150 turning left in front of me to wonder at that precise moment across all states, how many blue Ford F-150s are turning left.

So ... having been told by dear wife there will be an enema in this house shortly I suddenly started to wonder how many enemas were either happening right now, or will be in the next hour or so in homes across America? I'm thinking home enemas, not hospital ones.

I googled and there are 144 million homes in the USA as of 2022. If one in 100,000 homes had an at home enema event in progress, or soon to happen, that's 1,440 people getting, being given enemas right now or will be soon.

Minneapolis has about 3 million people and Google tells me they live in 194,532 "housing units" which would mean 15.4 people in every housing unit, whatever that is. Bad math. Let's say it is 3 people per house. That would be a million homes which would mean right now 10 of my neighbors, at least folk with 30/40 miles, are getting or about to get an enema.

The idea of 1,440 getting, about to get, an enema seems a lot but when I pull it down to 10 in Minneapolis it seems more reasonable. If we put a 90 minute time frame on an enema with the cycle restarting of the getting or about to get every 90 minutes that's 16 time slots in 24 hours being 160 every 24 hours here.

Perhaps the thing to do would be to think on, get a handle on, how many of those 144,000,000 homes have enema equipment for suds or Fleets ready to be used if needed and work from there.

These are the sort of deep questions running through my head this evening and if there are any other 'deep thinkers' here with a thought on how many home enemas (be they bag, bulb, or Fleet type) are happening I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Another thought hit me which was if for Minneapolis we assumed there were 12 time slots, not 16 --- who is doing enemas at 2am aside from late night kinksters 😃 -- that would be 7.5 enemas in any one time slot from early morning to late evening.

Then, might it be reasonable to say in the nineteen forties there were 20 times more home enemas than now? Even at ten that would be 75 enemas happening in homes at one time in the Twin Cities back then. If it was 20 times, perhaps a more reasonable number, it would be 150!

Might we also say that 80% of enemas were given, or taken, by moms? Other ladies such as aunts. That would be 60 to 120 happening in homes at the same time, all day long, in Minneapolis.

What's the song say, "Those were the days my friend ...."

Can I use this question in my next interview instead of “how many gas stations are needed in Los Angeles”? Might be an interesting gauge of character and analysis

As an engineer I really enjoy these types of exercises which require you to make one or more assumptions. With a starting point of 144 million homes in the U.S. we need to ask how many probably have an enema bag, bulb, or can. Probably nowhere near as many as 50 years ago, but let's say that number is 5% which still comes down to 7.2 million. I'll ignore disposable enemas for the sake of calculation. If enema equipment is used only 4 times a year per home that comes to 28.8 million enemas and if we think that the average size is only a quart of warm, soapy water for ease of calculation it is 7.2 million gallons annually. Now this is where this turns mindboggling because if a railroad tankcar holds 30,000 gallons, the U.S. consumes 240 tankcars annually which is the same as two good size freight trains. Who would have thought?

@Westy Love your math doodles! I doubt there is enema equipment in 5% of homes now. Perhaps if we include Fleets there might be but at 2% that's 2.8 million homes with enema bags and bulbs. Some would be bag up, nozzle down, every week. Some once every X years. If we went with once a year as an average that's 2.8 million home enemas given, or taken. That's roughly 7,700 home enemas today! If, as you roll across America you eliminated (no pun intended) enemas from midnight to 6am those 7,700 enemas would happen in an 18 hour time frame, which would be 428 an hour. Given that the enema experience starts with the decision to do it until the bag is hung to dry, and using our hour per as a guide, at any one time in those 18 hours 428 enemas are underway --- as bags hang to dry, others are being called on to do the deed.

I'm thinking there must be 10 times, at least, as many Fleets (or equivalents) used in homes as water injected enemas which would be 4,280 Fleets per hour from 6am to midnight. As Fleets take less time from decision to squeezed applicator emptied and tossed in garbage I'm not sure we can fit that into the same hourly model, but if we said a start to finish Fleet was 15 minutes that would be about 1,050 Fleets underway at any one time. With water based enemas we're at 1,478 enemas happening right now!

Would it be reasonable to say of those 1,500 enemas 1,300 were being administered (self or otherwise) by females and 200 by males? Then, the 1,300 women, how many would be given to friends/family and how many to themselves?

Thanks, I find these to be mental calisthenics as well as a lot of fun. It gets a lot easier when I try to calculate what has transpired in our household and this all started some years ago when I figured out how many years my wife had been taking enemas and then figuring it was two per average menstrual cycle. It works out to 26 per year times 41 years, but if we want to think about her lifetime we have to add back those that she got between birth and age 19. While she no longer gets her period she still enjoys a nice enema on a regular basis meaning that we are somewhere over 1000 enemas so far. At two quarts per bag it comes to over 500 gallons. Now let's start to expand on this. She started doing enemas when in college and according to her she was not alone in her sorority house. If there were 30 women in that house and only a quarter acquired the practice you can see where this can go. I'm picking on the sorority house because it accounts for the time frame and the gender.

The next time you wake up early in the morning, scores of patients in hospitals in your area are being prepped for a date in the OR by given a Fleet enema. That’s a lot of squeeze bottles going in butts.

Suppositories? Probably not so many anymore, at least for surgery prep.

I did two suppositories earlier to see if I liked diapers and chickened out when things started moving along. So I fought it back and ended up not being able to go at all. I then made up a homemade enema remedy to start things up again. I also made sure I got a sound paddling for not listening to my body. I had a very large elimination in my diaper and I actually DID like it.

I again, maybe an hour or two ago, gave myself more suppositories. I fought it back as long as I could but ultimately lost control of my bowels in a new diaper. Now I’m waiting for it to finish so I can clean up. My diaper is really full 😫
