I was in a Walgreens about sixty miles from my house the other day, and they had, to my very great surprise, a new spin on the red-bag enema kit. I bought it immediately of course and actually considered shelling out for two.
The bag seems to be of lesser quality than my old Mabis red bag, and slightly purplish. The hose is a little more prone to kinking than the Mabis hose. The clamp seems identical but the hose isn't quite springy enough to kick the clamp out every time so often to start the enema you have to fiddle with the clamp for a second.
But here's where it gets interesting.
They did some stuff with it I hadn't seen before. The threads on the red bag cap and on the hose adaptor are extremely steep, so that the thing screws in with a single full turn. That's a really nice feature. Then for some reason they decided, instead of having the douche nozzle and the enema nozzle each have friction fit tips to slide into the end of the hose, they made one threaded coupling with the friction fit tip, and the nozzles both have male threads to screw into that coupling.
I don't know why, since I always disassemble the bag and every part of the syringe as part of the cleaning process, so that little coupling has to get pulled out too, it's not like they're saving me any trouble.
The enema nozzle is similar to the standard enema pipe nozzle we all know, except with a rather ridiculously large flange, which I guess helps to grip it with your cheeks. The douche nozzle is larger but not quite as aggressive as the douche nozzle from the Mabis.
Has anyone else tried the new Walgreens kit? Super surprising that they would come out with this now in 2024, and surprising that this Walgreens location, which hasn't ever sold one in the last five years afaik, is selling one now.
