Lack of knowledge of the anatomy of their own sex

I've thought of a kind of paradox.

Prior to the Internet age, most adults never saw adult genitals of the same sex other than theirs up close. (Sure, males sometimes saw other males' penises, but seldom up close or erect unless gay or bisexual, who are a minority.)

Now, people are exposed to diversity. Is it good that they realize there is no single model or penis or vulva? Or is it bad because they compare themselves to unrealistic models?
