Golden Age Memories

I wonder who coined the term "Golden Age." The often-cited period of the 1940s, 50s, and 60s was also marked by economic hardship. Money wasn't exactly plentiful. Did people back then have to resort to enemas to feel better? As a child of the 50s, I certainly didn't see a golden age. My childhood was wonderful, but the enemas of that time were awful.

This is a complicated question. Well, no, the question isn't complicated; the answer is.

I don't believe there's any correlation with money and satisfaction from enemas.

Additionally, I think everybody has a different experience. The very fact that all of us are here says we have some sort of deep seated interestor at least curiosity, whether or not we are consciously aware of that is a complex question.

There's tons of psychological and physiological information about enemas on FetLife. I don't think there's any reason to reinvent all of that but a lot of very smart people with research and psychology backgrounds have posted a great deal about why people of that era tended to like him is more than later times.

My own opinion (and just my opinion) is something I've said here before so I'll be brief. When a parent gave an enema, there was a power issue and a combination of things that felt incredibly good to some people, fear of the pain (I've written about this) and sexual awakening.

So, "golden age" may not be the best descriptor, but I believe the idea of whoever posted it was intended to convey a time when enemas were more open and nearly everyone I knew had them. My playmates and I would talk about enemas endlessly and I had girls at school in junior high that. would talk about them in great length. Mothers would trade notes on them.

People ignored the deep seated stimulation, which was clearly there and just focused on the physical treatment they provided.

I suppose that's enough but if you go searching and use Grok, you will find more information about this than you can possibly keep up with.

And in the end, I guess it doesn't really matter. You like them or you don't. This is not something you debate as to whether or not someone else has a similar experience to your own.

So, there's my two cents worth and I really don't have anything else to say because I've been talking about this for many years and kind of tired of it!

I don't know what the women in our family did when we had family get togethers. The men did watch football. My girl cousin and I would sneak off and give each other enemas while they had their get togethers, we had ours. Lots of fun.

The smell of the boiling chamomile tea. The weekly cleansing enema sessions what l got with my sister which turned our Saturday's afternoon to a home clinic scenario. Unforgettable moments.

I have a number of "Golden Age Memories."

I grew up in the 50s and 60s when enemas were ubiquitous. Seeing enema bags hanging to dry in a bathroom wasn't an uncommon sight. I saw them not only in our home, but also in the homes of friends and relatives. Seeing the bags was always strangely exciting. I couldn't help but wonder who had recently been given an enema.

My mother had on old-fashioned red-rubber enema bag with a long orange-red hose and several black bakelite nozzles. I liked looking at the bag. I also liked glimpsing the bag bulging with 2+ quarts of soapsuds solution and hanging from the shower curtain rod--as long as I wasn't the intended recipient!

Mother also had a small red-rubber bulb syringe. I don't remember her using it on me though she undoubtedly did, but I have vivid recollections of her giving my baby sister enemas with it. Once, when I was in kindergarten, I sneaked the bulb out of the house so that my classmate Sally and I could use it to play doctor. That never happened because her big brother was keeping too close an eye on us.

I have a lot more memories, but I'll save those for another day.

I've talked about the "good old days" or the "golden days", and to most of us that lived through the 40s, 50s and into the 60s, those were at times difficult financially, but wonderful at the same time. Yes we were subjected to enemas sometimes only for perceived illness, and at times when we had behavior issues, I personally got hosed after leaving a rather potent room clearing fart, it was assumed I needed a clean out. But when you look back at the memories, families were closer as we didn't have distractions like dozens of TV channels, we had 3 or 4 channels to pick from and parents picked what we were going to watch, we didn't have the internet, streaming content, teenagers automatically getting their first car as soon as it was legal, there was no rap music, we didn't dare protest in the streets, and you could buy a candy bar for a nickle! We played outside until "the street lights came on", we drank from garden hoses, we rode in the back of pickup trucks, and many of us walked to school without a parent watching us. We didn't always lock our doors during the day, our neighbors kept an eye on the neighborhood. All the neighbors knew just about all of the children and any mischief was reported to our parents and never went unpunished. So yes, the good old days or golden days were just that.......AND WE SURVIVED THEM!
