@Maverick07 did you continue seeing a Pediatrician even being that "old"? Awesome!
I live in Argentina and here we switch from pediatrician to a regular doctor when we turn 12/13 years old.
Of course that's not something mandatory but most of the time our own pediatricians recommend that to our parents. Besides, all the boys hate to be in the same waiting room surrounded by kids of all ages and toddlers.. They find it odd, so around that age almost all of us make the switch.
In my case when I turned 13 yo, I had my very first physical performed with me completely Nude from the start of the examination (he was an old school doctor from the military) and became my personal GP throughout the years, but he never performed a DRE on me, it was always a visual exam.
The first prostate exam that I had was when I turned 22, it was performed by an Urologist in his private practice. I looked for one on the internet, his was located not that far from where I lived so I went there to see him after setting an appointment.
Back then I was having a burning sensation while urinating. After explaining all the symptoms, he instructed to remove my jeans and underwear (I kept my T-shirt on) and lay on the table. He examined my Testis and Penis bare handed (which didn't surprise me because my own Dr never put gloves either, he always washed his hands after finishing my examinations)
The Urologist took a while examining me and then he said he was going to perform a Prostate exam. That took me off guard, because I thought only men over 50 yo, received that type of examination.
I told him that and he said "although it's mostly like that, I've seen several cases of early prostate cancer symptoms on very young people, for instance one of my patients, aged 23.. It's better to check all the possibilities and make prevention"
So he instructed me to turn around on the table and put myself in all fours, I became very nervous, no one had ever done something like that on me before!
This time he didn't use gloves again, instead he put a Latex Finger Coat in his index finger, then put some Lube on it, with his left hand spread my butt cheek and told me to take a deep breath and then he inserted it in.
My Gosh! It was extremely painful for me, to the point I felt like my dick and balls got numbed, and "disappeared" during those about 10 secs it lasted (felt like forever) literally I couldn't feel them anymore, as if I had nothing between my legs!
I screamed while the Dr told me "It's ok! It's ok! Relax, I'm almost done!" then he withdraw his finger from my butt and I felt relieved!
He said he found everything normal there, but he preferred doing an urine lab test
So he told me to follow him to the bathroom, located inside the same room, to get an urine sample.
I followed him there (naked from the waist down, like Donald Duck) he then instructed to pee in the toilet, but just a little stream, and then hold it.
When I did so and while I holded it, he handed me a dark glass bottle and told me to pee inside of it until it was full, then finish releasing the rest of the pee in the toilet.
I did so, he covered the bottle and said he'll send it to the Laboratory next day, then we exited the bathroom and he explained the next steps he was going to take, depending on the lab results.
We talked about 10 more minutes (with me still half naked) and then he said I could get dressed and to go seeing him within a week again. Then I left
(it ended up being a mild infection or prostatitis and he prescribed pain killers and antibiotics)
That was what I experienced during my very first unexpected (and painful) prostate exam aged 22!
