Odor control for wearing cloth diapers.

I was wondering what cloth diaper users do to control odor control. I personally don't smell the odor until I remove my plastic panties.

I don't like the odor as it fills the air with unpleasant smell. I also wonder if the odor is noticeable to others being around them.

Since becoming incontinent, I always used disposable diapers that had odor control which was never a problem.

I've tried cloth diapers before and gave up quickly being difficult to change myself at that time.

I want to use cloth diapers for nighttime and weekends to save money and the environment. My everyday disposable diapers has spoiled me over all the years.

Any help or recommendations would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

I use a Pampers Size 6 as a booster when wearing cloth nappies. It is great for absorption as well as odour control. The excess runs into the cloth nappy and is absorbed.

On a heavy wetting night the nappy is soaked. I find the odour doesn't escape really. I only take off the diapers just before showering

I don't have any problems with odour while using terry nappies as it is very faint. The only problem is if I leave them before washing them

Sorry everyone, it's been a very leaky and not pleasant smelling week. I give up on trying cloth diapers again.

I have done everything I could to prevent leaks especially at night. Every morning I woke up with a diaper leak. I don't want to change the bed everyday.

I also don't like the always wet feeling, I never felt wet with disposable diapers. I also can't past the urine smell.

I'm not going around smelling like urine, definitely not around people. My disposable diapers rarely leak and have odor control.

So back to a 24/7 disposable diaper user. I'm sorry for the environment with the added landfill space. At least I will nor pollute the air with the smell of urine.

I’ve been 99% cloth my whole life. I’ve found that if you’re leaking, you don’t have enough diaper. My diapers are 4 layer flat extra large. They’re HUGE! I wear 2 at night with a thick toddler prefold folded in 3’s and lay it sideways just below the top front of my diaper. This setup is THICK. But never leaks. No

Matter how hard I go, I never feel anything more than a nice warmth. I can get up and keep them on for 14 hours before I start to feel wet. They don’t have any peep smell thill they are soaking wet after about 12 hours.

Ya gotta go thick with cloth or go home. 🤣

Odour is a bit of an issue with cloth diapers. The only real answer is really thorough washing and rinsing, and if possible, sun drying from time to time. This at least keeps the scent down. Wearing an extra thick diaper as Meetoo says definitely gets rid of any leaking problem, and can minimize the smell a bit as well. I find though, that once my diaper has been pinned on and covered in a plastic panty for any time longe than 8 hours or so, it will have a stronger smell than a disposable.

I do love cloth diapers though (see my avatar), and I think I will always feel that way. I really enjoy everything about them!
