So in our home; my husband very rarely lets me take his temperature rectally….!

Browser, before I got pregnant, I spoke with my mother and my gyno's nurse. Both of them said that rectal readings would be the best way. My husband and I stopped at my parents' house after my gyno visit. Mom gave us her unused basal charts to record my readings, as well as her old mercury basal thermometer. She told us that dad had taken her basal temperature the same rectal way. Then, to my horror, she insisted on taking us upstairs to my old bedroom to show him how to do it. Yes, I have taken his temp rectally when he was running a high fever. He knows I’ll be calling our doctor. That’s why i’m taking a rectal. He doesn’t fight it. I sit on the side of the bed to help him relax, and he gets very quiet.

Yes, when necessary. In 1984, shortly after. my husband and I were married, I suffered extensive facial and upper body injuries in a cycling accident and underwent reconstructive surgeries.

Nurses in the hospital and later at home care monitored by temperature with a rectal probe or under my arm. It took over a year to put me back together, and the reconstructive surgeon did incredible job. Rectals when they are indicated due to a medical condition or actual practice occasionally, and my husband is very good at it. I’m used to it if I ever get that sick.
