Has anyone had there personal support worker do more than changing your diaper?

Mine does anything I need want or has been trained / asked to do in the past or currently . What more than diaper changes are you struggling with?

The PSW job description is much broader than just changing diapers

Ours have dressed, bathed, prepared meals, gone on outings, cleaned, done laundry, played board games and lots more, so to answer your question, YES!

To be truefull I been told by others that they releases blueballs. And being sexuly abuse when I was kid. I do have fears with accepting a psw.

I think if that happened without your consent, it would be a big crime and they would face jail time. But as long as they are being background checked, hopefully theres minimal risk.

The Personal Support worker is a very Courageous caring individual who risk their freedom everyday to help a person in need.

The reason I say this is they are asked to interact with someone who is considered a person at risk. They are asked to help them with very personal activities that exposes them to potential abuse.

The result is if anyone say inappropriate activities occurred the care giver life as they know is over. It doesn't matter if there is witnesses that were there and say it did not happen. It doesn't matter if the Caregiver was visiting Antarctica at the time.

What will happen is someone who does not know anything about the situation will come in and investigate. They will try to prove by any means that it happened. If they can not prove the accusation they will turn the world upside down trying to find something. If they can find anything that can be construed to be inappropriate they will seek to punish the Caregiver by all means possible. If they can not find anything they will ensure that the Caregivers reputation is so thoroughly destroyed they will not be able to walk the street again without someone giving them the evil eye.

Why would they go to this extent you ask. Because if they did not the folks that prey on the vulnerable will move in and try to take advantage of the people who cannot protect themselves. Background checks do not stop the abuser. They just stop the Caregiver who has been falsely accused and the abuser who was caught from doing it again.

Now if the question "does personal support worker do more than changing your diaper" refer to a request that would be considered Sexual or abusive in nature. My advice is Hire a hooker and show a little respect for your caregiver.

If you are asking what a caregiver might do beyond their job description.

They will become your protector that is more feirce than your moma and papa every was.

They will be your biggest cheerleader and encourage you to be everything you can be.

They will cry when you cry and laugh when you laugh.

They will be your best friend and confidant

They will let you yell at them when life is not fair and then help learn to live with a life that is not fair.

They will make sure you are a better person at the end of the day.

and

They will do all this not for the pay

but

because the choose to share the love they have for people with you.

Well there a supply and demand for psw lately. Also I did looking into psw class it's only 3 to 6 month course to become a psw. So it makes me abit never about what I post before.

In UK, I assume it would have job title of Domiciliary carer.

As a trained carer I can tell you that indeed, we do risk a lot to care for individuals. If an allegation was made about improper conduct. ( this could be sexual but also accepting gifts, neglect, financial abuse, spiritual abuse, physical abuse or emotional abuse) the carer would be suspended pending investigation, in some companies this would be on reduced pay.

Once an accusations was made, this would go down on their personel file and will be shared with anyone who asked for a reference for that carer.

So if you would want any carer to do more than just change your incontinence pad, ( in the context you refer too) you might struggle to find one, willing to do so.

And yes, I meant an allegation made, not an allegation proven. In the case of proof, it is immediate dismissal and criminal record

You seem to be worried about being sexually abused again and concerned about the level of training required for a professional PSW. While there are medical professionals who do abuse their patients sexually, they don’t reflect the vast majority. Given your concerns, and if you can care for yourself, as you are doing now, I think you’d be more uncomfortable using one than not.

My neighbor has CP and is on the verge of being put in nursing home because he’s a huge pervert and repeatedly asked caregivers for sex. That’s a no go.

It's being hard to look after myself. After I caught cov I been forced into a wheelchair and my Dr is pushing a psw option. So I really don't want a psw. But I hope this post would easy my fears.
