As a youngster, I used the enema bag almost daily as I grew to adulthood. It was always hanging from the shower arm/head and was in my face whether showering or taking a bath. I started quite young as I found those wonderful sensations and wanted to beat my mom to the punch, since she would ask me most every day if I had pooped and gave me an enema if I hadn't.
Things diminished for several years after I got married, but I did use an enema as often as practical, until those enemas became so distasteful to my spouse who loathed them after receiving an enema during labor and childbirth. Enemas as a recreational aspect became quite limited for me.
As I aged, various medical issues and medications contributed to issues such as constipation and other digestive discomfort. Because laxatives, stool softeners, and other OTC treatments were unpredictable, I began using daily enemas prior to work, fishing, road trips, ball games, and other times when toilet facilities were scarce or filthy. It was easier, and quite pleasant, to run some warm water through my bowel to trigger evacuation prior to engaging in the various activities.
I set up a place to hang my enema bag near the toilet, and run a couple of quarts, in multiple smaller volumes, and complete this in less than 5 minutes. The bidet is handy for a quick wash and I'm on my way with minimal effort or investment of time. If the need or desire should happen to arise, I will take a larger volume enema after a full day of activity. These typical enemas are quite relaxing, and/or stimulating and may include a variety of solutions such as coffee or soapsuds. The complete emptying of my bowel may not be daily, but often enough to enjoy most activities and the reset for all those other life challenges.
BTW, my gastroenterologist and urologist had advised me to avoid constipation in the last couple of years. Since I don't use laxatives and other chemicals, I figured those smaller volumes of warm water wouldn't create anything negative, especially when they're expelled quickly. This mindset is confirmed in many of the "older" texts regarding enemas. I'm one of those old farts who believe in the "magical virtues of enemas" as mentioned by Dr. Benjamin F. Miller many years ago.
