As some of you know, I recently had both a colon surgery and colostomy, and then the reversal surgery. I wondered about enemas after...whether they were good, were needed, were harmful, lots of different topics. Here are some answers. Note that this is a repost of something I wrote a day or two ago, but it seemed to escape folks attention, so I thought I would repost under its own topic. I left the original up, in case some planned on reading it later. Sorry for doing this twice, but I thought the info I got was helpful.

Lots of other references, but the use of enemas is apparently quite common in this situation. The professionals call it "transanal irrigation," & manufacture special equipment for it, but it's an enema.
