For all my rectal temperature checks with the glass rectal thermometers, I was always laying on my tummy, my arms at my side, and wearing only my underwear-shorts. From there, whoever was going to take my rectal temperature would always lower my underwear-shorts to my knees or sometimes completely remove them. This procedure always varied by whoever was going to be the one to take my rectal temperature at the time.
At home, mom, all my older sisters, several of mom's neighbor lady friends, and all my older sister's friends, always told me to lay still on my bed, keep my arms at my side and to look at the pictures and posters on the wall. I did this at the beginning, but I always turned my head back and watched them taking the glass rectal thermometer from the metal can filled with cold water in it and prep it with Vaseline. When they were done prepping the glass rectal thermometer's silver pear-shaped bulb and glass shaft with Vaseline, they would now be ready to take my rectal temperature in my exposed bottom with the Vaseline lubricated glass rectal thermometer.
When they saw me watching them, I was again told to turn my head back the other way, lay still, and keep looking at the pictures and posters on the wall until they were done taking my rectal temperature in my bottom with the glass rectal thermometer. After my head was turned the other way, and I was laying still looking at the pictures and posters, whoever was going to take my rectal temperature with the glass rectal thermometer laid their hand across my exposed bottom-cheeks. From there, they slowly slid their finger and thumb into and spread my exposed bottom-cheeks apart. The glass rectal thermometer was then slid into my exposed bottom-hole. After that, they slowly slid their finger and thumb up and out from spreading my exposed bottom-cheeks apart.
From there, they then laid that hand across my lower-back area, or across my exposed bottom-cheeks area to keep me still from moving around on the bed. This also varied by whoever was going to take my rectal temperature. The glass rectal thermometer was always twirled several times after it was slid into my exposed bottom-hole. The glass rectal thermometer was always held in my exposed bottom for the five minutes. It was always twirled numerous more times during the five-minute check. There were numerous times where the glass rectal thermometer was in my bottom for longer than five-minutes.
At the clinic, all the nurses always told me also told me to lay still on the examination table, keep my arms at my side, and to look at the animal paintings on the wall. Once I was laying on the examination table, on my tummy, with my arms at my side, the nurse would tell me to lay still for her and to look at the animal paintings on the wall. After this, the nurse always lowered my underwear-shorts to my knees. There were some nurses that did completely remove my underwear-shorts, but most of the time, they were lowered to my knees.
I did lay still with my head turned looking at the animal paintings at the beginning, but I always turned my head back to watch the nurse taking the large jar of Vaseline from the cabinet and countertop area and setting it on the countertop, then opening it and taking several tissues from the box that was already on the countertop and place them beside the large jar of Vaseline. After that the nurse walked over to the examination room's refrigerator and took a glass rectal thermometer from inside of it. Then she would walk back to the cabinet-countertop area and prep the glass rectal thermometer with Vaseline and tissues. When the nurse was done prepping the glass rectal thermometer's silver pear-shaped bulb and glass shaft with Vaseline, she was now ready to take my rectal temperature in my exposed bottom while I laid on the examination table on my tummy with my arms at my side.
When the nurse saw me watching her, I was again told to turn my head the other way, lay still, and keep looking at the animal paintings on the wall. until she was done taking my rectal temperature in my bottom with the glass rectal thermometer. Sometimes some of the nurses would tell me that they have taken my rectal temperature in my bottom before with the glass rectal thermometers when I was brought there by mom or one of my older sisters. After my head was turned the other way, and I was laying still looking at the animal paintings on the wall, with my arms still at my side, the nurse would then lay her hand across my exposed bottom-cheeks. From there, she slowly slid her finger and thumb into and spread my exposed bottom-cheeks apart. The glass rectal thermometer was then slid into my exposed bottom-hole. After that, the nurse slowly slid her finger and thumb up and out from spreading my exposed bottom-cheeks apart.

It was always twirled numerous times during the five-minute check. There were numerous times when the glass rectal thermometer was in my bottom for longer than five-minutes. This was the same procedure done by all the nurses at the clinic when I went there for all my physical checkups or sickness visits.
