Did anyone tell you what might happen with a new provider?

As I shared elsewhere, at 22, I went to my dad's doctor for my grad school admissions exam.

He shared nothing at all as to what to expect, and I was surprised, at that age, to be told to "grab your knees", and have my first DRE.

Have others been in the same, pardon the pun, podition?

Many years later, I heard Dad tell someone that doctor was the most thorough he had ever known.

I started seeing a new doctor about ten years ago. I was talking with a buddy and he asked me who my doctor was? I told him I had just made a appointment with a new doctor but I hadn't seen him yet, and told him the doctors name. My buddy tells that is who he goes too, and then started complaining about how thorough this doctor is.

My buddy wasn't lying to me, he didn't tell me what to expect, or give me any details about his exam. Just that this doctor is very thorough.

My first visit I was sitting on the exam table, waiting when this doctor walked in the exam room. He shook my hand and introduced himself. He picked up a gown the nurse had laid out and handed it to me. He looked at me and told me to take everything off including my socks, he was going to get to know me. He then asked me if he was making me nervous? I think he thought he was being funny. And then he did get to know me, every part of me, inside and out.

When I relocated to my current city, my neighbor recommended his doctor to me. My neighbor is a truck driver and has to have a CDL physical exam ... I think every two years. We were talking one night, and I had enough beer in me to slightly stear the conversation towards me needing a physical exam. Had I felt comfortable enough, I would have pursued the conversation; however, I did not want to release the flood gates of my medfet on some poor ... yet hot ... unsuspecting man. His "I am medfetter too" lights did not go off. 😉

I kept it all above board and stated that I needed a new doctor as I was due my yearly physical exam. Knowing he was a trucker, and in a discussion pertaining to the subject of a medical exam I found myself kinds getting somewhat horny. Anyway, he made his recommendation and stated it was "a head to toe." Sold!

The next morning, I scheduled an appointment for later that week. I did not ejaculate... just edged myself near climax ... three days before the exam in order to be really horny.

Blood work ... urine testing... chest x-ray ... EKG ... stripped to my underwear ... completely naked for genital exam and prostate exam. This specific exam was the first time that I had been asked to assume the sims position for the DRE.

After the rectal, he wiped off my ass and I then rolled over, sat up, and remained on the exam table for a few minutes as he discussed his findings. After about two minutes, I stood up and slowly retrieved my underwear.

Although my neighbor knew the date and time of my exam he never brought up the subject. I did let him know that he was right about the "head to toe!"

Unfortunately, the bait was not taken. I just elected to keep my dignity and continuously masturbate for days as I imagined by neighbor experiencing the same.

No one has ever discussed with me what to expect with any new doctor I have ever had. It is difficult to get people to talk about exams, unfortunately. If they would then it might not be so difficult to find one's perfect doctor. So it always seems to be hit or miss when searching for one you actually like.

I went to a new pediatrician at age 11 for a complete physical examination. I had to be coached and mentored along the way (for lack of a better term) by my foster parents as I was terrified of going to a doctor due to some very bad previous experiences.

My new doctor was very kind and understanding , explaining what she was going to before doing the procedure itself, which helped calm my frazzled nerves. My doctor really understood the importance of gaining my trust and being gentle with me. As the exam progressed ( I was examined for about an hour) I began to calm down. She took my vitals again at the conclusion of the exam and my elevated blood pressure was getting lower. I also had 4 shots (2 in each arm).

I was referred to a Pediatric Pulmonologist (another decent doctor) for an asthma treatment program. I also had to undergo a neuropsychological evaluation because I had been a victim of some child abuse in state custody/foster care. I was damaged goods which caused me to develop anxiety and insomnia. A few years of therapy and a stable caring home environment was a real game changer.

In a word; NO. I had to find one when my family doctor of 30 plus years retired, coincidentally at the exact time our health care system was taken over by some GS5 in a swivel chair down in Washington. If there WAS an instruction manual that came with the new dictatorship mine must have been lost in the mail. After 10 years I'm still trying to find where to go for most of the things he used to do or even if they are allowed now. It appears the new provider is now provider(S} and figuring out which one you need requires an owner's manual.

Having had several different doctors during my childhood and adolescence, I can say that each had his own exam style and rerquirements. All required a rectal temperature but differed as to who would take it. Typically, the adolescent docs did it himself and deferred to the nurse to administer shots! There was never any detailed explanation of the exam aside from, ""You're getting a complete physical." Genital exams began around 12ish and became associated with spontaneous erections during various aspects of the exam. Then the genital exam involved rotating of each testicle and spreading of my butt cheeks for the doc to visual view the rosebud. DRE or rectal exam did not take place until age 18. We are now quite familiar.

I remember the first time I went to the doctor for hemorrhoids. I knew he’d stick a finger up there but the anoscope was a total surprise
